Hate that fucking "oh we're only gonna play the James bond theme when it's Significant" bollocks. Nah mate it should be blasting full volume when he's unpacking his suitcase
Something that really struck me while watching Revenge of the Sith in the theater again last year was just much better it plays as a 20 year old film than a contemporary one.
I felt like I was attending a special screening of a film like The Wizard of Oz or Gone with the Wind, where the over-acting and melodramatic dialogue was just part of the experience that in no way was to the film's detriment.
The Shakespearean themes, totally devoid of the irony and sarcasm that plagues so many modern movies, were quite impactful and the visuals, cinematography and especially the score were still absolutely amazing. Probably the best experience I had at the theater all year.
Say what you will about Megalopolis but Coppola created a singular and totally original film never to be repeated to make sense of his own dreams in a creatively bankrupt era even when studios were against it. I find that incredibly inspiring and important to chase your ambitions all your life to create what speaks to you even if others donโt get it at the time.
Yesterday, Tim Hill received the 2025 Tony Conigliaro Award, which recognizes a โMajor Leaguer who has overcome adversity through the attributes of spirit, determination, and courage that were trademarks of Tony C."
Before Hill was selected in the 32nd round of the 2014 Draft, he lost his father, Jerry, to colon cancer at the start of his sophomore year of high school in 2007. Then, in 2015 during his first minor league spring training, Tim was diagnosed with Lynch Syndrome. Later, when Tim was 25, he was also diagnosed with Stage 3 colon cancer.
After enduring surgery, radiation, and chemotherapy, he was declared cancer-free in late 2016 and returned to baseball, eventually making his Major League debut in 2018. The 2026 season marked Hillโs ninth in the Majors ๐
@summoningsalt I think part of the reasons those types of documentaries work is because of the "real" interview footage. By that I mean I think telling a story with twitch clips and highlights wouldn't work as well. They use interviews to supplement for the lack of narration
