Crazy thing is that Obama already delivered the blueprint for winning over the white working class. He made legitimate ideological and policy concessions to the white working class, and he was rewarded by receiving a significant share of their votes.

Progressives simply don't want to make any concessions whatsoever, so they have decided to compensate by running people with working class aesthetics while maintaining far-left policies. This does not work, because people are not stupid and also being extremely crass, slovenly, and unprofessional are offensive caricatures of the working class.

Even before the most recent scandal, Platner was well under water with working class Maine voters and his entire base was white college grads.
