“No AI, no AI companies, AI-based products, or forced AI usage for development.”
In his new interview, Jake Wharton explains why this principle matters to him, and what concerns him about the way AI is changing software development.

The thing I miss the most about coding by hand is the clarity.
You knew exactly what lives in which file, why you wrote a specific line, why you rewrote the other one, why you used this library.
You still can have such awareness, but it’s harder since everything happens faster
If you build Android apps, appFunctions is worth exploring, it's a glimpse of how apps will start interacting with AI going forward.

Building isn’t always about adding more. Sometimes, it’s about unlearning, and that matters too.
My second blog on looplog explores the UX and UI decisions behind the app and the lessons that came from simplifying the experience.

Last week I had to make a small change in a codebase that's been around for 6-7 years. The actual change took less than half an hour. Understanding how its wired up took much longer.
Out of curiosity, I spent a few evenings building a small side project that tries to explain the architecture, onboarding guide, key files etc.
Just point it at a GitHub repo and let it figure things out.
it was more of an excuse to play around some agentic workflows and UX orchestrations.
Still rough around the edges, but it was fun building it out.

I was tired of googling different dev tools every time during a debugging session! So I designed and built WrenchKit using Claude Code, from the corner table at CCD.
It's a collection of dev tools that I use for debugging very often. Encode, decode, generate hashes, convert or view JSON, TOML, YAML andddd THE TIMESTAMP!!!!

One place for all the tools!
AndroidX quietly dropped Remote Compose 👀
It’s the next level of server driven UI. It sends actual native UI drawing operations from server to client.
You update or even ship new UI from server and render it natively on Android. Powerful.
