"shotgun and 16S metagenomics data"
16S metagenomics is a misnomer – a wrong or inaccurate use of a name or term

More fun publisher surveillance:
Elsevier embeds a hash in the PDF metadata that is *unique for each time a PDF is downloaded*, this is a diff between metadata from two of the same paper. Combined with access timestamps, they can uniquely identify the source of any shared PDFs.
@johan_rollin presented Cont-ID, a tool for the detection of cross-contamination in viral metagenomic data at @jobim_2021 with a lot of interesting discussions. Looking forward to the next poster session tomorrow. 👇👇👇
Bioinformatics over the years:
1990s: doing a BLAST search
2000s: analysing 30 microarrays
2010s: nalysing 6Tb of NGS
2020s: creating a cloud the size of Netflix to reanalyse the whole of SRA for one figure

THANK YOU, Galaxy community!!
Happy to be presenting panRGP, a pangenome-based method to predict genomic islands among thousands of microbial genomes of the same species, this morning at @ECCB2020 in the genome track !
