@nwl88444048 Ireland has provided around €550 million in support to Ukraine since Russia’s full-scale invasion in February 2022..
No lethal military aid..
Not a large amount of money to help a European country invaded by Russia..
Irish government total budget is €126 billion next year..
Saudi Arabia has been exporting crude so far this month at a rate that suggests the kingdom has lifted its oil production toward the 9-10 million b/d range.
Using both the Persian Gulf and (more importantly) the Red Sea, Riyadh has boosted crude exports during the first 22 days of October to >7 million b/d, reaching pre-war levels (see @Vortexa chart below). Adding clean and dirty refined product, the export flow Oct 1-22 reaches ~8.5m b/d, slightly below pre-war levels of >9m b/d.
The crude export surge -- and the production boost -- could be part of a "use-while-you-can" strategy aimed at pumping ahead of the potential restart of the war post US midterms (or before the Houthis of Yemen damage another key oil installation -- several near misses already in recent days, including an attack that killed two contractors near a major oilfield).
Note: using Oct 1-2 as typically it takes at least five days for dark transits across the SoH to become clear.
@LBC@bethanymrd Answer is No money left
The UK government has, since April, spent no less than £61 billion - that’s £61,000,000,000 - on debt interest payments.
Don’t think Putin would cut the data and phone cables to the US..
He wants to keep his good relations with the US..
However with no gas storage the gas pipeline from Scotland if broken means we have no gas for heating or electricity generation..
Apart from the Corrib field…
At present we get around 18% of our electricity from the UK by cable..
Under Mao the death toll from the Great Leap Forward and the resulting Great Chinese Famine (1958–1962)…Is generally estimated by historians and demographers to be around 30 million being the most commonly cited figure.
Estimates for the death toll of Mao’s Cultural Revolution (1966–1976) generally range from 500,000 to 2 million violent or unnatural deaths
@rtenews Why are so many far-right parties led by women ?
Pauline Hanson Australia, Giorgia Meloni Italy, Marine Le Pen France, Alice Weidel Germany, Sanae Takaichi Japan.
Signs of strain include frequent breaker trips, lights dimming when appliances start, or a panel with little spare capacity. Many older Irish homes still have panels rated below 100 amps—well short of the 200 amps generally recommended for modern home car chargers and PV panel installations.
@rtenews Against all the predictions Ukraine has humiliated the Russian army…
Even with US support Putin has made no progress with the ground war…
At least 700,000 Russian dead..
Invading Ukraine was a terrible mistake for Putin…
The minister says after Nice referendum neutrality was never mentioned again.
He leaves out the referendum was ran twice
Bertie got a solemn declaration on neutrality to win it the second time
The Nice referendum solemn declaration” refers to Ireland’s National Declaration (and the related Seville Declarations) issued in June 2002 ahead of the second Irish referendum on the Treaty of Nice.
After the first Nice referendum was rejected in June 2001 (partly over neutrality concerns), the Irish government presented a National Declaration at the Seville European Council (21–22 June 2002). The other EU member states responded with a European Council Declaration on Irish neutrality..
“I made too much of a noise about being a Jew inside the BBC.”
That’s what Oscar-winning producer Lucie Kon says after colleagues victimized her in the wake of October 7. The Telegraph reports that the BBC paid her £400,000 and still won’t admit it was antisemitism.
“It was like I had Jew stamped on my forehead.”
While the BBC claims it’s stamping out anti-Jewish hate, it’s slanted and biased reporting about Israel and Gaza have helped fuel some of the worst antisemitism in Britain in many years.

@rtenews Is defense minister telling disinformation when she says Irish troops will be involved in peace enforcement in Lebanon..

We have more or less open borders…Reinforced by the courts…
“Aontú leader Peadar Tóibín TD has questioned the effectiveness of Ireland’s citizenship requirements after establishing 26,400 people were granted Irish citizenship through naturalisation in 2025, compared with 377 refusals recorded in the response”
Q: Why are you so sure that Russia would not attack us?
Finland’s President Stubb: Well, you can never be 100 percent certain about anything in this world, but quite frankly, from everything we see, everything we read, and everything we discuss, we simply do not see that at this point.
And the reason is very simple. Russian troops are tied down in Ukraine, and right now they actually have a deficit.
They have fewer and fewer soldiers in an increasingly complex world.
I simply cannot imagine them suddenly mobilizing on two fronts.
