@Heccles94 Interesting. Governments spend about $20 trillion a year and the private sector spends about $3 trillion a year on social programs yet all these problems still exist. But Harry over here could fix them all with a one time payment of $1.4 trillion. You must be brilliant mate!
@MasterMaliq Define "support" and define "extremism". But let's just say for example honor killings, I'd call that extreme and thinking it should be legal I'd call support. So probably about 25 in 100 would think that it should be legal to murder a family member.
@Sukidovi@NarrativeFilter@eduardomenoni Ah yes, the Irish and their violent ways need to be contained by the civilized British right? The 19th and 20th century called and they want their anti-Irish rhetoric back.
@vrexec@GrainStats There was a book about that phenomenon almost a decade ago. It's not something new caused by AI. And yes, there is an AI bubble IMO.
@BexWords I don't like Trump, wish he was never President, can't wait until he is no longer President. But the facts don't lie, Biden did a terrible job and Trump has done a mediocre job when it comes to the screw fly outbreak. Which mediocre is far better than terrible.
@BexWords@HumphreyKart@MySharonaBrown Literally last May is when the Trump administration announced that research efforts for sterile fly production were being expanded.
@BexWords@HumphreyKart@MySharonaBrown Panama is literally part of America and the point where all of North America led by US efforts has contained the screw worm for 60 years. That containment failed in 2023 and the Biden administration made no effort at all to increase sterile fly production.
@BexWords@HumphreyKart@MySharonaBrown As far as my date being off by a year, it is. But probably not how think. The first screw worm was actual detected in panama in 2022. I was actually giving the benefit of the doubt to the Biden administration that the actual "outbreak" didn't start until 23.
@CrimPracMan@GovPressOffice I like how you are ignoring that the Biden adminstration made absolutely no plans to increase sterile fly production for the first two years of the outbreak. Not Trump personally, but the Adminstration announced concrete plans to expand sterile fly production starting in May 25.
@CrimPracMan@GovPressOffice No Trump didn't BART, it's still open. And we already have technology to produce sterile flies. The problem is that the Biden adminstration did nothing to increase fly production. Trump did starting 3 months into his adminstration. Unfortunately we lost two years though.
@BexWords@HumphreyKart@MySharonaBrown Containment was breached in 2023 during the Biden administration. Despite sterile flies being how it was contained in the first place, for two years the Biden adminstration made no efforts to increase sterile fly production.
@CrimPracMan@GovPressOffice The Biden administration plan was to try and slow down the expansion to buy time before it hit, no plans to try stop it. You can't build facilities overnight, but the Trump adminstration started in their first 3 months.
@tleilax___ The screw worm broke through the panama border in 2023, the first funding for actually increased sterile fly production didn't come until 2025.
@tleilax___ Funny how a new facility for sterile fly release opened in Febuary, a new production facility broke ground in April, and a Mexican production facility is expanding production with a USDA. Almost like the Trump adminstration quadrupled spending on the problem.
@HumphreyKart@Mari83287592 No they can't. Adults and larvae can't survive below freezing for more than a few hours. The eggs can't survive below 55 degrees Fahrenheit.
