@JoeTegtmeyer@Tesla It does sort itself out after a few kms normally. No need to reboot. But it’s irritating for sure especially when you go through 5 or 6 countries easily in a day 🙁
@FSDEurope Normally the upgraded parts are ok. We have had no issues on the front since and car has been TüV’d twoce since repalcement. Keep an eye on the upper rear links though. We have a ‘21 Fremont model 3.
@aikisteve@KRoelandschap The Tesla average speed info for the long zones where you have ave. speed cameras in Belgium is really helpful especially when traveling across Belgium to from France/UK. Same in England. The old days of fast transits across Europe are well and truly over. FSD would be wonderful.
@markusdd5 They had a Plaid in to benchmark so there’s no excuse. Ferrari used to be a beautiful, exotic and desirable car. I’m an EV fan and this is none of those. I’m amazed Ive is associated with it. Part of the anti-EV movement I suppose.
@Teslarati Better the 2 go hand in hand. More power density, less internal resistance give the same or lower weight, and the same or lower wait (times) 😁
You can buy the brakes from Tesla for road use including installation without the track pack wheels. Tesla installs the hardware, special brake fluid, new firmware and does the initial drive and bed-in before you have it back. Takes about a day. My CoC shows that the quoted maximum speed is available with the brake kit. You must have the approved tyres and wheels on it for road use. 21” Michelin PS4S T2. Winters you have to run Arachnid 21’s not 19’s. They don’t fit. PZero Winter are the approved tyres for winter and have a 270km/h limit unlike the summers which are higher. Tesla will only unlock the top speed and give you the firmware when they install the factory brakes and wheels/tyres at a service centre. It transforms the braking but you have to be very careful when it’s really wet as the brakes don’t self dry like some ccb’s. Nothing nothing abs. No brake dust to speak of and they stay remarkably clean. It’s a shame it wasn’t a factory fit option as I have the original brake disks and calipers in my garage.
We have been driving across Europe including the UK for over 5 years by EV. Admittedly in Teslas. This article is not representative in any way of the experience we’ve had. And it’s a shame that it seems you didn’t go into this with a more open mindset. If you have a good EV and importantly that includes good software, it’s an excellent way to travel even if you are in a hurry. And I say that as a lifelong fossil enthusiast and petrol head. (I have a manual petrol rear wheel drive Sunday car too as nostalgia)
Interesting. When I look at the pictures on the Tesla website the cars look lower than IRL. Grok claimed it is the camera angle and clever photography but after some debate conceded that it’s common industry practice to weight cars for photos/images so they look lower. It’s not much but it does make a difference to the stance of the car. E.g. -10, -20, -30mm for Porsche sports cars. The GT’s look slammed compared with the others but it’s only a few mm. I don’t mind the way Teslas look on the road, and 3 and S are already so low you need to be extra careful, but even @woodhaus2 had his 3 tweaked by unplugged to give it the ride height in the pics (I believe). Of course @larsmoravy wants more wheel travel and more clearance so it’s always a compromise….
Truth. And you can take the kids to school, go on holiday, do the drinks market run, the reliability of supercharging…..All round it’s unmatched even now-there’s nothing like it. Astonishing that they killed it 🙁 I know some folks will quote 3P and YP as fast but until you’ve driven a fully lit Plaid……🔥
@OutofSpecDetail An engaging fossil is great for high days and holidays. The process of driving can be fun and rewarding. But for everything else, especially when you have a family, a good EV is much better. If you can afford a GT3 then have both.
@aikisteve@Tslachan Yes. But here there is no option in either app. Or in the car. Buy a new car or wait and hope. Although I’m actually not hopeful. (Both HW3).
