@ErrantLurker@wmallen2024 That’s the issue with subjective perceptions of reality. We will never all agree on the exact same things. That’s okay if it’s recognized and properly communicated.
@ErrantLurker@wmallen2024 Except there is an agreed meaning to what gender, the collection of social constructs that make up gender identities, is. That basic idea is agreed on, the same as the basic definition of sex I’d agreed on. We won’t agree on all particulars, but that’s the same for everything.
@ErrantLurker@wmallen2024 You say a lot, but it’s really lacking a clear substantive point, which just makes it hard to see the purpose of what you mean.
Like how Jordan Peterson communicates things.
@ErrantLurker@wmallen2024 And nothing is wholly objective. Everything is inherently subjected to the limited subjective understanding that humans are stuck with. It will always possess a vagueness to some level.
@Prolife_Sam Which is what you would be doing by terminating a pregnancy early here.
You’d be doing it with the intention to end the fetus’s progression to try and protect the mother’s life, knowing the fetus will die as you make that choice.
@ErrantLurker@wmallen2024 Modifying your body in no way requires a decision based on the society around you every time. It can simply come from an internal perspective of what feels like it merges best with your experience of the world and how you wish to feel things. It’s still subjective.
@ErrantLurker@wmallen2024 I don’t like how my bare arms look. It just doesn’t feel right. Getting a physical tattoo takes that space with art, making my internal perception feel more at ease.
I could just look at my arms and say I don’t need one, but there’s also no reason I couldn’t get a tattoo.
@ErrantLurker@wmallen2024 I never said it worked, I said it’s just the reality of things.
And people change their external view for internal reasons outside of gender affirmation. It’s why people change their hairstyles to something that they feel is nice.
Your points are so vague I’m unsure your point
@Prolife_Sam If it’s a medical procedure meant to terminate the pregnancy early to prevent further development and complications, how is that not an abortion? The fetus is not viable and will die.
@SunnivaGunn@a50671419@wmallen2024 I’m not blind to that. Physical differences between sexes is a justifiable reason to have a separate team. I never said otherwise.
@StudentsforLife So would letting a pregnant person die from complications in the early stages pregnancy, which might be prevented by terminating the pregnancy, not be healthcare?
@Red_Velvet_ESR That’s part of acknowledging gender norms like those as a social concept.
They aren’t strict biological rules people should be forced to follow.
@SunnivaGunn@a50671419@wmallen2024 Why would they want it closed off? How do they define woman? What metrics are used?
They can do it, but if it has little justification to exist, it has little point in existing specifically.
