A Zimbabwean AI researcher at University of Cape Town, Simbarashe Mawere, is part of a team who have developed a new specialised LLM called MzansiLM.
The LLM was trained specifically on South Africa’s 11 official written languages including Zulu, Ndebele, Sepedi, Sotho, with strong performance in Zulu and Xhosa.
Their goal is to solve the problem of popular LLMs like ChatGPT and Deepseek being quite poor at local African languages.
MzansiLM is not a general-purpose chatbot though. It's a base model designed for developers and researchers to create applications such as text summarization, annotation, and local-language technology.
The model was open sourced and is publicly available on Hugging Face to encourage further local-language tech development. You can access it yourself if you'd like to geek out!
🤖 AI can feel almost magical, but to use it well, we need to understand what it is, how it works, and where its limits really are.
In this video, I explain AI in simple terms, including how tools like ChatGPT, Gemini, and Copilot generate responses, why they can sound so convincing, and where issues like hallucinations, outdated knowledge, bias, and memory limits come from.
🔹 What today’s AI models actually are
🔹 How neural networks, transformers, and tokens work
🔹 Why AI predicts text rather than truly understanding it
🔹 What hallucinations are, and why they happen
🔹 Why AI can be biased, forgetful, or out of date
🔹 Why human judgment and critical thinking still matter
If you want to understand artificial intelligence, large language models, how ChatGPT works, AI hallucinations, AI bias, and the limits of generative AI, this video gives you a clear and practical explanation.

One of the biggest reasons people fail to get shortlisted is the poor quality of their CV. There is no shortcut here. If your CV is not structured properly, clear, and results-focused, you will be filtered out.
I am sharing a free tool that will help you identify exactly what is wrong with your CV and what needs to be fixed:

A lot of people have been asking me where they can practice psychometric assessments. I have received a number of inquiries on this. If you are looking to practice, here is a link you can use:https://t.co/xROIEFY0y1
When it comes to psychometric tests, the key is time management. Do not get stuck on one question. If you do not know the answer, skip it or make an educated guess and move on. Spending too much time overthinking will not suddenly give you the answer.
