@oliverek7@NickJF75@MesocastUK The rain hit very hard just after the funnel cloud passed over my house.
But my son did see the rope shaped tornado a few minutes later as it was dissipating.
A good few trees were down but it seems like it could have been worse.
@rtenews It touched down so it actually a tornado!
I saw the tail end of it pass behind my house along the m18.
Carlow weather has a few damage photos here.
@Irish_Met@CarlowWeather I see oak & hawthorn leaves on the ground around my house that fell from the tornado. There aren’t any oak near me so it must have carried them a distance.
@Irish_Met@CarlowWeather There was a lot of tree debris falling out of the sky after it, so it must have taken out a good few trees.
Does the short clip of the branches getting broken give an idea of the strength?
@Irish_Met@CarlowWeather Yes there was damage down at my son’s school in Coldwood, halfway between Athenry & clarinbridge.
@CarlowWeather has posted a short clip of it & a few downed trees too.
@caitblissdalton@CarlowWeather It was half way between clarinbridge and Athenry. It past straight north beside the m18 motorway. It dissipated into a rope tornado afterwards.
@UKStormUpdates It did touch down just south of athenry.
I saw the end of it passing behind my house, leaves and twigs were coming out from it. Pity my camera didn’t pick up the debris.
