30 years on remembering all RAF personnel from RAF Laarbruch who supported Operation GRANBY at the start of the air campaign on 17 January 1991 especially those aircrew who were killed on operations to liberate Kuwait.

I remember his portrait and citation which used to hang in the hall at School and which I often looked at during assembly. Not forgotten
nor the sacrifice of over 55,000 aircrew of Bomber Command who made the ultimate sacrifice.

On this day in 1944, Lancaster pilot Sqn Ldr R A M Palmer DFC* of 109 Sqn was killed after continuing to fly on to mark the target for the following bombers despite his aircraft being on fire. He was awarded a posthumous Victoria Cross.
