@ErrantLurker@wmallen2024 Intersex has nothing to do with gender.
Gender can be categorized and compared by a society through material actions, behaviors, traits and the like put together. Sex can be part of that, but there’s nothing making it a necessary core. It’s up to the culture and its value focus
@Clanker_Rights@BiteMeAnCap And that is where private property can still get vague.
The big focus is labor. I simplified it to just money making, but the bigger issues come from having laborers working alongside you. I don’t know much on how to explain it though, so I’d recommend trying to read some theory
@ErrantLurker@wmallen2024 Yes. That’s how things already are and how they work.
Social conventions can impact or restrict personal expression if it’s seen as too dramatically different. That’s a common conflict with gender; the balance of conformity vs free expression of your internal view.
@Bethamphetamean@BiteMeAnCap That’s better.
I was struggling to define the term simply enough for people to get the basic gist, but I reduced it a bit too far.
@ErrantLurker@wmallen2024 Societal rules have a personal element because society is made of people.
Personal ideas have a social element, because people grow up in societies.
They’re connected.
@ErrantLurker@wmallen2024 Society makes gender norms. An individual picks up those terms and norms. They have a personal interpretation of those norms, possibly challenging them. They make a new individual distinction.
Neither are wrong, both are still part of what makes up gender as a concept.
@lucasvontrier1@feralhog5000@BiteMeAnCap I’m realizing I simplified the definition too much for people.
There’s a reason people have written books on private property and its distinctions.
I’d recommend reading Marx and others to get a better view, because I can’t give it.
@Clanker_Rights@BiteMeAnCap A rental would be private property.
A personal home would not.
A garage would be a workshop, and it does get varied there.
I don’t have the answer here. I’m just giving the basic idea of what private property is seen as. Others have made far more detailed definitions.
@CaraAleatorione@BiteMeAnCap My definition here is the really simple reduced one, just to give the basic idea.
People do have more specific definitions and expansions to the rule that account for things like those, but not me. I dont actually give much thought to this, as its not something I hold to myself
@fagg0y@BiteMeAnCap That’s a fair question. The private property definition came about before the internet and online commerce. It’s hard to say where the line is sometimes.
I’m just giving the basic definition to work with.
@CartoonishlyI@BiteMeAnCap Communism is about dissolving private property so that all workers using it have ownership rather than one person.
Communism isn’t against personal property though. That’s why it tries to make a definition of both, to protect personal property as it gets rid of private.
@ErrantLurker@wmallen2024 Because the basic idea of gender comes from a scientific concept of society. That’s the basic use. The personal interpretations and broad ideas within gender are still valid, they’re just under the umbrella definition of gender.
@ErrantLurker@wmallen2024 That’s the issue with subjective perceptions of reality. We will never all agree on the exact same things. That’s okay if it’s recognized and properly communicated.
@ErrantLurker@wmallen2024 Except there is an agreed meaning to what gender, the collection of social constructs that make up gender identities, is. That basic idea is agreed on, the same as the basic definition of sex I’d agreed on. We won’t agree on all particulars, but that’s the same for everything.
