I’ve been quiet on here recently.
I’m aware that the visibility of my posts has been restricted since I spoke out about certain issues…
Besides those important issues, to which I will return soon, there are, of course, a number of things I want to say. I want to tell you about concerts and projects I have coming up etc.
I want to also say my heart health, after my heart attack in March, is continuing to improve and I feel pretty good.
I want to share that I feel so lucky to still have my amazing and supportive mum in my life as well as wonderful friends and relatives who continue to energise me and raise my spirit daily.
It’s been a wonderful year for work, as I’ve mentioned. I’ve scored the music on two tv series, two films, played Glastonbury (televised by the BBC) , toured the U.K., been a booker prize judge (reading 158 books this year), scored a new amazing play about the impact and difficulties of Dementia for the National Theatre, written a new commission for the brilliant Halle Orchestra to be performed this coming December, along with my band and I’m beautifully set up for some even more exciting projects next year.
Health-wise I’m back to my chin ups, physical training and kickboxing and I’m active everyday.
I turned 60 in May and I feel great right now. The heart attack was a genetic blip that feels like someone else’s anomalous memory.
All that said, I still look at the madness of how ignorance, cruelty and unkindness are celebrated and encouraged daily and I find it hard to manage my despair and anger.
But that one beautiful word keeps me from falling… keeps me wanting to get up and take on the world every day.
Hope.
