There are many times I’m tempted to comment or reply to something idiotic he says but I think back to the Gunny Highway saying, “don’t give the prick the satisfaction”. He’ll angle anything to elicit as much of a response as possible. It’s a good clip and a valid discussion. Appreciate the post.
Hot new insurtech sues old school insurtech. Competitors are going to go through your quoting process. The fact that they bound a policy with no business details and client had to answer over 100 questions (1 question per $1M raised😅) is not something I’d admit publicly. If this is AI insurance innovation, I’ll pass 🤷♂️

@TyRobben@Broker_Brett@CedarStResearch I just know a guy who knows a guy.
However, if you’re coming to town and have some free time, let’s make it happen.
Yup, I’m one of those.. we saw what could be built and what was built/funded. IMO, those that had actual deep insurance experience (especially sales) were not taken seriously + limited investors in the space that had carrier LPs. Felt innovation in the period could have been more impactful. That’s changing, what is possible is changing, exciting times ahead. Maybe former skeptic, future founder, who knows. I just know the game has changed for the better I think. 😎
@TyRobben Yeah, agree, definitely a market for corporate policies. The targets I’m working on/helping with are professional individuals, so a more price sensitive market.
@TyRobben I always hope for success, as I know it’s hard to raise and create a startup but these have been interesting trying to understand the true value prop. Anyway, they both have great looking websites 👍. Need a real thoughts podcast.

2. DFC reportedly has $154B of the $352B needed to underwrite insurance policies
3. Raising the total liability cap for the US DFC would require an act of Congress
4. Traffic in the Strait of Hormuz is now down by ~92%
Nearly 20 million barrels per day of oil supply are currently frozen.
@shaig Did you show up? It’s fair for them to disagree, they sacrificed a lot and are dealing with things in Europe. Whether that changes in the future or not, who knows, but they’ve always showed up in the past few decades.
@hedgequote Agree, it’s a bad decision I made. Also, didn’t raise enough initially and wasn’t open enough about what we built, which was the first of its kind, still not replicated, because it wasn’t up to my expectations yet. So many things I would ( and will 😎) do differently.
Interesting insurance find: https://t.co/skXQHvJ7W9 on Reddit, says it started to see if drivers are overpaying. Makes it seem like an unbiased “org” but you put your info in, have to provide email and phone at the end. Fine print is that it gets sent to Quotelab auto aggregator, which is run by MediaAlpha, partnered w/ carriers. Nice way to trick consumers.
@hedgequote Agree, “insurance allows the world to go around, why do people not like us?”Oh yeah, it’s this. I save $1000 a year, and my limits are half and it’s a 6 month policy. Cool 👍
