Study suggests that a review of conventional histology by a second pathologist may be more beneficial than step serial sectioning in identifying unknown primary head and neck cancers. https://t.co/xL41u2VuBR
Next up is the HNSCCUP study. One of the largest studies on cancer of unknown primary to date with over 900 patients, this research provided incredible insights into the investigation pathway and influence of HPV on survival in this uncommon malignancy.

Next we have our new HN committee chair Alison Lim. Alison has an outstanding research background, with several publications on the application of in-clinic biopsy to reduce cancer waiting times and improve patient experience, and has many exciting ideas for our new HN committee!
Next is our INTEGRATE secretary @ying_klee, who will be supporting all of our new committee's research projects. Also new to the team, Ying already has excellent collaborative research experience working as a research fellow and as an associate PI in the multi-centre HoT trial.
Congratulations to those who have been appointed to the 2023-2025 INTEGRATE committees! There were a very high number of applications, so well done to all who made the cut!
This week we will be introducing our new chairs, and highlighting our previous committee’s achievements.
We would like to thank the outgoing chair @johnhardman, secretary @KMilinis, and subcommittee chairs @swords_chloe, James Constable, and @johnpjrocke, as well as all members of the previous committees for all of their excellent work over the last two years!
We are kicking off this week by introducing our new committee chairs!
First up is @EdwardBalai who has taken on the role of Rhinology chair. Although new to INTEGRATE, his excellent research background makes us very excited for the directions he will lead the new committee!
Next up is @jarwynjones1, our new Otology subcommittee chair. James worked in our last Otology group, delivering excellent projects including the CIRCA audit and NIHR funded @STARFISH_trial. We cannot wait to see how he and the new committee continue to build on these successes!
Today, 27th July 2023, is World Head and Neck Cancer day. Did you know this is the fourth most common cancer in men in the UK, with approx. 12,200 people diagnosed every year? #WHNCD2023
