@nickythegood Mets fans definitely can be too crazy but it is tough to believe that Stearns and this team care, or even like, the fans. They treat them like a necessary evil. They may claim they do, but their conduct tells a different story.
@ChrisGon88042@01Starblazer But it does not make sense. Mets will never b competitive before the end of Stearns's contract in two years. He is relying on Cohen to keep him based on potential, not results, even though he will have had five years and did not produce any results.
@nickythegood Great point - Stearns does not realize he has to give people a reason to like the Mets. They have to be good or likeable. Stearns's team is neither.
@SNY_Mets He has no desire to build a major league team. The Mets will potentially be good in two years for the next 20 years and will never be competitive in any of them.
@Masterflip_ Other than Lindor and Soto, none of the players you have identified have had one full quality season in the major leagues. I supported the move for Stearns but he has failed. I understand wanting to give him more time but if he was good he would not be in this position.
@Mark_Luftig@MarkCHealey They are operating a country club, not a baseball organization. Winning is not a priority. They would have sat him even if he was ok.
@PatrickBoegel@BMiggy ☝️- Exactly this - they are getting worse under him and there is no sign that he can reverse the trend. Some of the young guys seem like nice players but none are so good that the Mets can count on them. They may just be the next Baty and Vientos.
@AlbaneseLaura Lol. They are a total disaster. Thanks for trying to put a good spin on it but the sooner all of them are gone, the better. New blood needed everywhere. (I know Cohen not going anywhere but everyone else).
@NYNJHarper Nothing matters until Stearns is gone. I thought he would succeed too, but unfortunately, he will not. Nice of Cohen to give him a chance but it will not work. We just have to wait until Cohen decides to pull the plug. Mets will be a 70-90 team until he is gone.
@Berliner4Marc@SNY_Mets@JonHeyman@Joelsherman1@nypostsports@SteveCohen2 It does not make sense cuz, as constituted now, they cannot even compete until after Stearns's K expires, in 2-3 years at least. So he does not have to improve the major league team. He just has to sell the idea that the farm system "will produce" at some point in the future.
@PeteTheGreek13 I think Cohen wants the casino and Stearns is just maintaining the value of the franchise so he can sell. They are not dumb. They know they are bad.
@StevenACohen2 I know you cant, lol, or Citi Field will b empty the rest of the year, but just hoping the explanation is not that we need to move David and start over again. Seems hopeless no matter what.
@StevenACohen2 Can you just admit that Mets are not trying to win this year? Cuz if you are trying to win, David is the worst executive in the history of baseball, and that seems extreme. If this season is not a priority, no biggie, just let us know so we can move on.
@FredGerteiny@Ben_Yoel I think you are correct. I think they are both done at this point, and I do admire Stearns for not throwing Mendoza under the bus, but they have both contributed to this failure. Stearns's teams is awful and Mendoza does nothing with what he does have.
Mets fans: Do yourself a favor and forget this year. And maybe the next few. Last year was a mirage. This team is not a winning team and will probably b under .500 by the end of the year. They invested in the wrong guys.
