I am looking at these comments and thinking … well maybe I should not say what I was thinking…
But guys… this administration is not against you… yet… but you better not turn against them. That would be stupid.
If you disagree, fine. It happens but trying to divide your relationship with Trump on these things is crazy and dumb.
However, I do understand that the internet is not the real world and probably most Israelis understand much better than these trolls…
You are just wrong... His mother was Scottish... She was born in Scotland and almost certainly carried that part of her Scottish heritage with her.
In this interview you can hear her significant Scottish accent and can see that it is likely she most likely maintained the Scottish way of quoting and referencing the Bible.
Salvation is by grace through faith in Jesus Christ... not by passing a theology exam.
While you have put up a very adamant comment, you haven't given any scripture to support it.
I am giving you examples the, at least to me, seem to suggest that it doesn't take much in the way of Theological understanding to get saved.
I did not suggest that someone would still be saved after believing a false doctrine over the Bible.
I am not sure how you can be a non-pastor and think you know better....
I am not sure that is what the Bible teaches… did the their on the cross understand the Trinity? How about the Ethiopian evangelized by Philip?
However, I do think understanding who Jesus is is important and if you think He is just a human, or if you think He is just one of many gods that is a huge problem.
However, that really wasn’t the discussion. I think oneness people believe that Jesus is God and the Father is God and the Spirit is God.
Their belief or understanding is not right and depending on how that understanding plays out they may not be saved. However, I think that one could be saved without full understanding.
I don’t think it is out of the question that a Mormon could have saving faith but the more they know the more they become responsible for.
I guess the question is what makes someone saved…
@JenOliverQC Jesus Christ is the one true God... fully God, together with the Father and the Holy Spirit. He is not a god among others. He is THE GOD. There is no one above Him, beside Him, or even close to Him, and there never will be.
Can you agree to that?
I am not sure that is at issue. LDS hold some same values Christians have and we can work together on those issues.
However, we cannot say that Mormons are Christian. They fail to hold to a central tenant of Christianity.
Unless they change and say they hold to that central tenant then we cannot say they are christians.
@DevinD33 That is not what actually happened... The classification was dropped for all. Also, they are not Christians because they fail to hold a central tenant of Christianity.
I think you are being over dramatic about the present situation which, after a request form LDS members, has been changed....
People disagreeing with you and saying extreme things online is not reality.
There surely has been some persecution in the past, although I don't know Christians were the propagators of that persecutions so much.
Some pastors might have been heavily involved but Christian denominations did not promote the persecution.
Also, there were some very concerning things that eventually got addressed Federally but would have destroyed Illinois and/or Missouri and been a different type of persecution of others who lived there.
I don't think Mormonism is a threat to America the way radical islam is but I do believe that is the same model we are confronting today.
Islam is a whole other animal and if the most radical have their way, we will be in real trouble.
While Mormons now don't have quite the same goals to undermine the USA, there were some similarities early on that needed to be fought against.
Some fought them in a way that wasn't good, but it was a fight that needed to be had.
@For3JT@BasedMikeLee@Manhattva I don't know why they were labeled the way they were. I agree with taking out the christian label altogether so it did end well for both sides I think.
But either way, it did start a conversation that is important to have.
It matters who Jesus is… Jesus is the ONE true God with the Father and the Spirit.
It is not good enough to follow Him as a good teacher as the 7 sons of Sceva.
It is not good enough to follow Him thinking you will be on the same level as a god yourself as the King of Babylon in Isaiah 14 or King of Tyre in Ezekiel 28:11–19.
@RepMikeKennedy If we are talking about who’s a chaplain and what chaplain ministers to what troops, this is a very important distinction.
I am not sure practically what difference it makes. That would be helpful in this debate
