@DumpTrump_45@brianschatz@curliemermaid So you think the NIH, which funds childhood cancer research amongst many other life-saving studies, is not an “important agency”?
I’m sorry if it comes off as rude, but you’re just not a serious person if this is your argument….
@Kusabimaru83@tinattix@SCK4068@joewrote Would you admit that the original post insinuated that Jeffries PURPOSEFULLY advocated for members of his caucus to vote for the package?
Being a feckless leader that can’t cull his own party is VERY different to purposefully voting for outcomes counter to the party’s interests.
@Twigsy@mistergeezy@NeeNeeNichelle In the worst case scenario where they are entirely feckless, they can at least use significant oversight tools under a slim majority to stop the bleeding the admin is causing.
In the best case with a filibuster proof majority, they can do anything they want.
@NeeNeeNichelle@Twigsy@mistergeezy While your being falsely contrite, you did correctly list the only two possibilities:
1. Compromise and negotiate bipartisan compromise where you don’t get everything you want.
OR
2. Have a filibuster proof majority and do whatever you want.
There is no magical 3rd option.
@A_A_Leeder@Lonkblonk_@ChiefTeef8 There’s nothing to suggest that states, who control the operation of elections, will be subverted. Potentially the president claims elections in blue states are invalid, but Rep electeds in those states will clearly push back if it means they don’t get seated.
@A_A_Leeder@Lonkblonk_@ChiefTeef8 So you’re NOT from the UK? Or you’re British and moved here? Maybe dual citizen!
Either way using one’s vote is better for democracy than skipping out on elections. Unless you want violent revolution, like a tankie?
@A_A_Leeder@Lonkblonk_@ChiefTeef8 I would be very surprised if the goalposts don’t shift again the minute Starmer eventually steps down.
If they form the best coalition govt in years, I’ll concede with an egg on my face.
Until then, I remain skeptical given Green’s illustrious track record.
@A_A_Leeder@Lonkblonk_@ChiefTeef8 Let’s think about who’s done more for US political change:
US citizen who believes in voting for a better future
UK tankie without the right to vote in U.S. elections trolling with doomerism talking points on Twitter
I wonder????
