They criticize the country every chance they get. Yet when it comes to the opportunities and benefits America offers, the complaints seem to disappear.
That’s a contradiction worth thinking about.
🏴 A 13-year-old orphaned girl told staff she felt unsafe, but her request to move was DENIED.
JK Rowling just offered to pay for her day in court.
The girl, the only female in the unit, was placed at St Mary's Kenmure in Glasgow alongside 11 boys aged 15-17, all older teenage offenders. She had committed no crime.
When she asked to move to an empty houseblock, the answer was "no."
The case was documented by the Council of Europe's committee for the prevention of torture after an inspection last year.
Rowling took to X: "Who does it hurt if we make every space mixed-sex? This is who it hurts: the most vulnerable, those without power and influence, the invisible people politicians don't bother to consider when chasing likes and photo ops."
She then posted a link to her women's fund and offered to cover legal costs for the girl or anyone acting on her behalf.
The world's most successful children’s author is helping kids with more than just great reading material.

@johnpavlovitz Before Fox, Pavolovitz and his cronies could tell us the naked emperor had lovely clothes and there was no one who could say, "wait a second, let's be honest".
@JonathanTurley Why doesn't this "African-American Studies" prof begin by calling for the dissolution of all the borders in Africa? Hey, pick one of the countries there, take over the military, start a war of conquest and take over the continent as a single nation, under her as empress.
@espinola51422 Sylvester Espinola: The best thing these three women (Jackson, Kagan, Sotomayor) could do is resign and let DJT appoint three intelligent, legally astute, replacements.
@sharrond62 They’ll never forgive us for being right, because they’d have to admit they embraced an idiotic, unevidenced delusion that caused widespread harm to women and children.
@Martina That immigrant also gave 10's of thousands of Americans good tax paying Jobs and created untold wealth for Americans. We need more like him, don't you agree. Oh, and he's done more for the environment than me and you.
@AntiTrumpCanada You don't give a good impression of Canadians with your vulgar language. It shows you lack facts and simply want to lash out irrationally. The more vulgar, the more you believe you are saying something worthwhile. But alas you are not.
@Vanessa30338266@AdamKinzinger Wow, she stood her ground when no one threatened or confronted her. Maybe she knew that she was safe, did you think of that?
Josh Shapiro could have offered a moderate voice in the upcoming elections, resisting the rising radical movement in his party. Instead, he proved to be just another politician thinking of the next election rather than the next generation. https://t.co/LofPk6KlNy
Nonsense. What struggle is taking place in the photo from today? The young woman is sitting where she want, how she wants and she's not being mistreated as far as the photo depicts. I can show you photos of a white woman sitting alone surrounded by Black males playing rap with all sorts of frightful lyrics. What conclusions should we draw from those?
Yes, defining picture of a Black girl being UNmolested and UNharassed by whites on public transport. Check out pictures from the 50's and 60's of Black folks on public transport being harassed and molested by white DEMOCRATS. What a change for the BETTER this is. Correct? Looks like we truly have become color blind, MLK's dream has come true.
To the Americans:
I've travelled all over the world. I've familiarized myself with many places, and met many people. And I'm a Canadian, although I’m privileged to reside once again in the States.
And here's something I've noticed, and it’s a key element of America's continuing greatness:
You bloody Americans value success, and you believe in its existence.
This is something that doesn't really happen anywhere else in the world. Even in other free democracies—the United Kingdom; Finland, Sweden, and Norway; Australia, New Zealand and Canada; Germany, France, and the Netherlands (great countries all)—a counterproductive cynicism too often reigns.
Success is equated with exploitation.
Ambition is looked upon with contempt.
This happens sometimes in the United States too—particularly among the miserable progressives, who confuse their resentment, ingratitude and unearned skepticism with wisdom.
But in your great country, by and large, striving is admired and success celebrated.
This means that more people strive and succeed in the US than anywhere else. And it's increasingly obvious. You remain stunningly more innovative and productive than any people anywhere else on the planet.
And so I say, as all should who are fortunate enough to live in the western world, let alone America:
Thank God for the United States.
Thank God for the wisdom of its founders.
Thank God for its faith in the free market and in the natural rights of man.
Happy birthday, you damn Yankees and Southerners.
Long may your admirable country dominate the world.
Long may your freedom and hope provide an example to those suffering everywhere at the hands of their malevolent states.
May your two and a half centuries of unparallelled success be just the beginning.
Your country is the light of the world, and the city on the hill.
Thank God for the USA.
Happy 250th.
