Excited to start at the City Council next week to get to work on making transit in District 3, and across the city, more affordable, accessible, and faster for our residents!
🚨 Breaking: Watch to understand why @SpeakerMenin + @EricDinowitz buffer bills are critical.
Feel free to PEACEFULLY protest whomever you want… from down the block.
You have no “right” to rush NYPD to try and harass people walking into a synagogue.
Tonight, we had a resounding victory by electing Carl Wilson as our next City Council Member.
Carl has been a friend and colleague for many years, and I couldn’t have been more proud to endorse him in this election.
He built an unbelievable coalition that inspired voters across his district, and I can’t wait to welcome him as our next Council Member!
Jaden Pierre was only 15 years old. His death is heartbreaking, and his loved ones are in my thoughts.
This senseless violence is unacceptable and cannot be tolerated. The perpetrator must turn himself in and be brought to justice.

In just 100 days, this Council has shown what it means to truly work for New Yorkers. We've passed 111 bills and resolutions, overridden 17 of Mayor Adams' vetoes, and proposed restoring $1.1B for New Yorkers.
With 134 committee hearings held and 1,222 bills introduced, we're not just talking — we're delivering.
This is just the beginning. 🗽
100 days in, and we’ve been moving fast.
From passing 100+ bills to proposing to restore $1.1B in libraries, cultural institutions, and critical services, we’re delivering for New Yorkers in every borough.
And we’re just getting started!
For more than a decade, the President has crossed the bounds of decency and basic social norms countless times.
I have made a deliberate choice not to respond to each incident. If I did, I would spend all of my time reacting to his latest outrage instead of focusing on improving the lives of my constituents.
Responding every time he crosses a line would only diminish the impact of my opposition. In fact, I believe it is part of his strategy, to distract from policy failures by saying outrageous things.
Now, he is again attempting to divert our attention, this time from the cost-of-living crisis and his deeply troubling remarks about “wiping out a civilization” in Iran.
His attacks on Pope Leo, and his portrayal of himself as Jesus on his “Truth Social” page, are not just offensive, they are profoundly disturbing.
Meanwhile, our nation faces serious challenges. The public is increasingly disillusioned with politicians on both sides of the aisle, and the President continues to flame the fire of division rather than light the way to unity.
We should be focused on what matters:
1.the affordability crisis,
2.immigration reform,
3. healthcare costs,
4. tax fairness and wealth inequality, and
5. America’s standing in the world.
There is little to be gained by expecting the President to change course.
Instead, Democrats and Republicans in Congress must come together to move this country forward, especially as we navigate rapid technological changes , growing strategic competition and a new world order.
The son of Ukrainian-Jewish immigrants, Eliot Engel brought the best of the Bronx to Congress.
I had the honor of serving alongside Eliot, who fought tirelessly for the people he served.
I’m keeping his family and loved ones in my thoughts today.
Happy Easter, NYC!
Today we celebrate Christ’s resurrection, the promise of renewal, and the light that follows every struggle.
Wishing all those who observe a joyful day of reflection, family, and community.
