Comments like ‘time to get his elbow in the way of Hugo’s head’ and ‘good craic to stick his elbow in’ are pretty stupid

Agree they are lifting the leg for protection. But I think for most players that’s the extent of it, don’t think it’s malicious. IMHO unless a player is going to the air to compete they need to leave the player in the air alone. ie. stay out of the space until he lands

@ciarandonohoe @BrianODriscoll To be fair it’s hard to compare catching in GAA with catching in rugby. It’s rare in GAA that 2 players running in completely opposite directions compete for a catch like for a garryowen. No doubting the skill levels in GAA but not a true comparison in my humble opinion

@BrianODriscoll Agree @BrianODriscoll. Problem with rule makers is many haven’t played at that level (or at all) & don’t understand dynamics of it.
It’s all milliseconds - Oz player didn’t seem to pull out of the tackle to protect the player in the air which wud’ve been deemed a reckless 🤔
