Firefighters successfully extricated three patients from a serious two-vehicle collision this morning in Osgoode.
At approximately 7:26 a.m., the Ottawa Fire Services Communications Division received a call from our partners at @OttawaPolice requesting Firefighters respond to the intersection of Nixon Drive and Dalmeny Road for a serious collision involving a pickup truck and a sedan. Both vehicles had left the roadway and were in the ditch, with reports of possible injuries.
Firefighters arrived on scene three minutes after being dispatched and confirmed both vehicles had sustained heavy damage, were in the ditch, and had occupants trapped inside.
Crews quickly stabilized both vehicles and began the extrication process using specialized hydraulic tools. At 7:49 a.m., Firefighters completed extrications on both vehicles, safely removing one patient from the pickup truck and two patients from the sedan.
The scene was left in the control of @OttawaPolice for their investigation.

Our volunteer firefighters aren’t just neighbours helping out—they are highly trained professionals who meet the exact same NFPA standards as full-time crews. They don’t just show up when it’s convenient; they:
• leave family dinners at a moment's notice
• jump out of bed for 3:00 AM calls
• step away from their "day jobs" the second the pager sounds
These individuals are the backbone of our fire services, protecting over 80% of Ontario’s geography. 🌲🚜
This #NationalVolunteerWeek, we’re looking past the gear at the people behind it. To the firefighters balancing careers, families, and the sudden ring of a pager: We see the dedication it takes to serve your community at 3:00 AM and still be at your desk by 9:00 AM.
Thank you for the commitment it takes to balance both roles. 👨🚒

Hey YGK, have you ever seen a green strobe light in the area on a car? ✳️
If so you most likely have seen one of our many volunteer firefighters possibly driving to an emergency!
Just a reminder to pull over to let them through because every second counts in an emergency!🚒❤️

Today one of our Sector Chiefs encountered an 11-year-old skating on unsafe ice at Mahogany Landing in Manotick and asked him to leave due to open water.
We’ve seen many community groups raise concerns about kids on unsafe ice.
Please stay off the ice.
No ice is safe ice. 🚫🧊🚫

Firefighters battled a large structure fire in Stittsville yesterday.
At approx. 17:38, the Ottawa Fire Services Communications Division received a 9-1-1 call reporting a large single family home in the 0-100 block of Ridingview Cres had flames coming out of the attached garage. Upon arrival, Firefighters confirmed the flames had spread from the garage right up to the attic of the home with the flames going through the roof. Firefighters initiated a fast attack and began extinguishing the flames. It was confirmed from the home owners that all the occupants had safely exited the home. This fire was in an area of the city with no hydrants so Firefighters set up a water shuttle system using our tanker trucks to bring water in from a nearby water source. An aerial ladder was set up to attack the flames from above. Several exclusion zones were set up by our Safety Officer due to the risk for Firefighters of multiple areas of the home collapsing to the ground. Firefighters set up a defensive attack to attack the fire from the exterior due to the dangerous conditions inside the structure. The fire was declared under control at 19:35. An excavator was called to the scene to move the debris so Firefighters could extinguish hot spots. An @OttFire Investigator was dispatched to the scene along with Victim Services. We cleared the scene at 00:24 when all the hot spots were confirmed to be extinguished. #OttNews
