May 15th is the International Day of Families 💛
Dr. Maya Angelou: “Love recognizes no barriers…” Today we honor all forms of family — by blood, by bond, and by choice.
💛 How are you celebrating yours?

It is with a heavy heart that I share the passing of James “Jim” O’Toole – a respected firefighter, a leader, and a tireless advocate for those who put their lives on the line to protect others.
A husband and a father of two boys, Jim rose to the rank of Lieutenant, while also being an admirable union leader serving as @IAFFofficial Local 1075’s President.
Jim leaves a remarkable legacy, not the least of which were his efforts on behalf of Bill C-224 – An Act to establish a national framework for the prevention and treatment of cancers linked to firefighting. I was privileged to work with Jim on this.
Jim’s work will remain a powerful reminder of who he was for decades to come. My condolences go to his wife, Crystal, and his sons Ryan and Gavin.

On the fifth anniversary of the devastating wildfire in Fort McMurray, and as the province fights this brutal third wave of the COVID-19 pandemic, Im keeping the people of Alberta in my thoughts. As we were in the immediate aftermath of that fire, know that we’re here for you.

Today we honour all of the Firefighters past and present. Thank you for your service. #InternationalFirefightersDay@OttFire#thankyou

Grateful for another interesting & productive experience this past weekend. Regardless of adversity, the secret is to keep going...
💯% recommend Access Rescue Canada's Rope Rescue Operations training for anyone who wants a solid foundation in technical rescue. I learned a lot within a few days through step-by-step, hands-on experience AND had a blast with the crew!
The #OpenAirFireBan has now been lifted.

Special shout out to the Dispatchers yesterday evening who used landmarks from multiple 911 calls to triangulate the location of a pair of teens who’s inflatable boat was sinking in the middle of the Ottawa River and guided @Ottfire rescuers right to them.
