@SurfersJournal This is a good idea. The Surfer's Journal is great and Jamie Brisick is doing excellent work with the podcast. The Jack McCoy piece was superb.

Home computers?? In 1984 they weren't on my radar at all, still enamored with Selectric typewriter that could white-out letters. I prob thought Crazy Eddie was indeed insane!
@MarthaQuinn I typed out my grandparent's "A CALIFORNIA LOVE STORY" on a "borrowed" IBM Selectric typewriter during this time period. MTV seemed to me to be the only other interesting thing happening.
@Served_Podcast Wouldn't another super power and critical factor in Novak's favor be his mental strength especially overcoming XL moments when the odds and fans are against him?
In TSJ 33.1, Derek Hynd ranks 100 (or thereabouts) of surfing's most impactful postmodern wave riders. Hit the link to read Scott Hulet’s introduction to the list and Hynd’s idiosyncratic ranking criteria.

RIP Carl Weathers, former SDSU Aztecs great. Lettered at SDSU during 1968 and 1969 season. He helped Aztecs to a 11-0 record and a Pasadena Bowl Championship, while playing for legendary coach Don Coryell. #Aztec4Life
