Hey @maxrushden - are you going to demand that Philippe Auclair apologises before he comes back onto another GFW pod for his utterly disgraceful recent comments?!

He effectively branded anyone who enjoyed Arsenal losing the UCL final as far right xenophobic racists just because (his words) Arsenal have a more diverse multicultural fanbase.

This is a shameful statement (which is highly inaccurate anyway about the diverse nature of their fanbase compared to others - arguably that alone is a highly offensive statement) and more typical of the real reason everyone enjoyed their demise. Because it’s fair to say it’s more down to:

- their arrogant fans continually flexing (and abusing other fans) as if they are European supergiants Real Madrid whilst having a European record similar to Lincoln City.
- their team playing the most anti-football in the world right now whilst their fans claim the exact opposite.
- their club attracting disproportionate support amongst the media (TNT is more like AFTV now).
- their arrogant fans refusing to acknowledge the ludicrously inconsistent officiating that has favoured them all season.
- them having the most arrogant and odious manager in the league, who believes he’s above the law and continually whines about everything, encourages cheating and continually stands outside his technical area whilst other fans see their managers penalised for the exact same thing. See also next point in relation to their manager.
- and their rancid club and manager protecting an accused serial rapist, promoting him to women and kids, and even offering him a new contract; something all football fans outside their club considers to be more shameful than anything Man City did financially (or in their owner’s home country) yet which attracts next to zero scrutiny for by the mainstream media. Philippe Auclair is quick to take the high ground with FIFA and Man City yet accuses anyone who takes pleasure in Arsenal’s downfall because of this as doing so due to “their own politics”. A shocking and shameful statement to make by a mainstream journalist.

He should give an immediate apology to all listeners and if he appears on another pod failing to do so, you and everyone involved with the pod should hand your heads in shame. I certainly won’t be listening if he appears again without doing so.

Which is sad because I have always enjoyed the pod and listened for years but I am sorry I cannot stand for what he said. I am as left wing liberal as they come but for him to brand myself and others as racist simply for finding what his club and his fanbase stands for as distasteful, it’s an insult to all fair-minded reasonable football fans.
