@archtoronto not at all relevant to your post but my home parish has a similar statue… also with what appears to be a yellow stole… is this just a “poor man’s gold”?
It would be good to ask ourselves every day: “What do I bring to Jesus today?”. He can do a lot with one of our prayers, with a gesture of charity for others. This is how God loves to act: He does great things, starting from those small things. #GospelOfTheDay (Jn 6:1-15)
@eudaimoniapod My default app is plex, (plexamp) they have a feed for you but it stopped updating a couple of years ago or so. not sure where they pull their feeds from.
Like Jesus’s fellow villagers, we risk not recognising him. An abstract and distant god who doesn't get himself involved in situations is more comfortable. God incarnated Himself: humble, tender, hidden, drawing near to us, living the normality of our daily life. #GospelOfTheDay
Our Eucharistic celebrations are transforming the world to the extent that we are allowing ourselves to be transformed and to become bread broken for others.
The Paraclete is telling the Church that today is the time for comforting. It is more the time for joyfully proclaiming the Gospel than for combatting paganism. It is the time for bringing the joy of the Risen Lord, not for lamenting the drama of secularization.
In these days of preparation for the Solemnity of #Pentecost, let us ask the Lord to send us the gifts of the Holy Spirit so that we may persevere in our life of #prayer with humility and joy, overcoming difficulties with wisdom and determination.
The family is the harmonious union of the differences between man and woman, capable of opening themselves to life and to others. Let us #PrayTogether for families so that they might remain united throughout these difficult times and lend a hand to those in need. #DayofFamilies
One of my favourite details about #thechosen is how often Jesus prefaces his words to his apostles with "Boys..." OK, it might be because it was also a favourite locution of mine in my Seminary days. Don't worry though, I know I'm not Jesus! (or even nearly enough like him).
Definition of “library envy” — attending (so to speak) a zoom conference in which all the speakers are zooming from their desks with their bookshelves behind them.
My proposal for a new civic slogan for #Brantford ... “Brantford, city of carports”. Inherited one at .@StPiusBrantford but it took only one winter to realize its replacement by a garage was not necessary.
Sadly ironic to be entering into Jesus's "Bread of Life" discourse in our gospel readings at daily mass. Let's remember that the lockdown does not preclude us from doing the work of God. As Jesus said today "this is the work of God, that you believe in him whom he has sent."
