My comments that the Government’s mad policy of VAT on school fees could raise no extra revenue after deducting:
• Loss of pupils into state sector
• Recovery of VAT input costs by schools
• Loss of bursary places
If Labour wants to improve the UK's economy, they should start by reversing their spiteful taxes on private schools and farmers. These taxes raise a pittance but send a clear message that the UK is a country that undermines hard work and aspiration.

Several problems.
1) This isn't ending a tax break, but *adding a new tax*. Education has never been taxed--until now. Education is a merit good, like health care (including private health care).
2) Labour have failed to understand the effects of their own policy. They have not met with parents--who will pay this tax--nor have they listened to schools. They rely on analysis by @theIFS which has significant flaws, outlined by the @ASI and others.
3) This policy won't make money for state schools. Far more people have left independent schools than Labour estimated. The @ISC_schools estimate 10k fewer students were in independent school in Sept 24 vs 23. The Govt estimated around 3k this year. Students moving to state schools *cost* the state, and strain state schools--we see this already in areas such as Surrey. If Labour truly wanted to increase funding for state schools, they can find a better way.
@CapX proposed one such option, which essentially involves a £1k tax on those in the top 20% of earnings, regardless of which schools their children attend. They would also *listen* to parents and stakeholders directly impacted by this tax.
We as Education Not Tax again urge @bphillipsonMP, along with @rachelreevesMP and @keir_starmer to meet with us and rethink this policy.
There's still time.
Hi All, a parent has launched a new petition on @UKParliament's website against #schoolfeeVAT.
@UKLabour's MPs @RachaelMaskell warned about harms for #SEND children and @MattRodda once warned about harms of in-year transfers. #findabetterway.
Please sign and share! It's time, again, for our voices to be heard.

@timhortonsuk please can someone reply to the email I sent last Tuesday regarding my son’s lost teddy at one of your stores! The message said I would have a response within 72 hours!
@timhortonsuk I emailed on Tuesday about my boy leaving his teddy at your Gemini park store as there were no phone numbers anywhere, I haven’t had a reply. Please can someone look into it as I have an unhappy boy without his teddy! Thank you 😀
90,000 jobs already lost/at risk, only 6 countries without restrictions – the UK travel industry is collapsing in front of your eyes @grantshapps. Enough is enough. Where's the sector specific support? The airport testing? Why won’t you #SaveTravel? #SaveFutureTravel#Test4Travel
