I think it’s time we talk about something uncomfortable.
Over the last decade, social media has fundamentally changed how people experience reality.
Social Media Algorithms reward agreement and then communities form around those shared views.
Dissent gets filtered out. Over time, you stop hearing actual criticism - not because you’re right, but because you’ve essentially curated it away.
That certainly feels good in the short term. You feel validated. All the time. You start to believe that you're special because you surround yourself with people that tell you that you are and you're telling them that they are. And you're all one happy fucking family full of very special people.
But that creates a dangerous illusion: That your bubble represents the actual world out there.
And then you get the reality check:
You ship a product, you release a film, you launch a game... and suddenly you're not being pampered anymore. And it feels shocking - almost offensive - because how could you have been wrong after you've been told you're right so many times, over and over again?
But what you're experiencing is not malice. It's insulation.
The actual truth is: Growth requires friction. It requires being told you’re wrong. It requires being humbled. And it's no goddamn fun, but you'll be better for it afterwards.
I also learned that the hard way:
When I went to art school, I thought I was talented. I’d been told so my whole life cause I was drawing and painting pretty pictures that looked nice.
Then I got there and realized that “pretty” isn’t the same as meaningful. I got my work torn apart, work that I had labored over. My tutors ripped into me because I didn't respect them enough to actually think through my work. And... they were right.
That was painful. But it was the lesson I needed at the time.
The same thing happens in game development right now. Because people form these bubbles, they think they've nailed it. But then players tell them otherwise.
What matters is how you react then: Either retreat into defensiveness and keep making the same mistakes or actually listen and be willing to learn.
Life is short, folks. Being humbled might be uncomfortable for a while. But usually you then get to look back at some point and understand that this was the moment you started to learn something new.
Hollow Knight: Silksong will be available September 4 on all platforms and day one on Xbox Game Pass!

Ok! Giant post time!
A lot of people are asking why I left my position at @GoGalaGames.
I just spent the whole week in Ho Chi Minh City for #GMVietnam. In addition to the whole conference circuit crew, I met a huge number of good friends I have made over the last 10+ years in crypto. I bumped into @Eug_Ng from @DWFLabs, @Crypto_Ciara from @CsquaredVC and so many more I can't even name.
Overall, there were great responses to my creation of @LFGincorporated. There was unanimous enthusiasm and approval. Everyone loved it and recognizes what it means for the whole ecosystem.
A few asked why it took so long.
Before I begin this whole thread though, I want to make sure one thing is understood. I am still an advisor to @GoGalaGames and still speak regularly with @Benefactor0101, @mark_skaggs, and many others still at Gala. I did not leave on bad terms or in a contentious fashion at all, nor was I fired. I have left Gala, the company, but I am even more committed and dedicated to the $GALA ecosystem than ever before.
There are, of course, thing I didn't like about existing under the corporate umbrella at Gala...which is a major part of why I am doing what I am doing. Gala has rather famously not done a ton of web3 marketing, web3 partnerships, or...well...a lot of web3 stuff. The ecosystem and community is amazing, as are the employees at Gala, some of which are my best friends. This applies to the company itself as well, but the company is a COMPANY first, and web3 second. This is what you have to do when you have shareholders...company and shareholders have to come first.
This is not anyone's fault...it is a natural result of the gap between web2 and web3, which we have seen multiple times recently with some absolutely bonkers ToS from other games and NFT projects.
The problem i that as a web3 guy, this caused me no small amount of frustration. It obviously creates a natural point of conflict when web2 company stuff doesn't align with web3 community stuff. I am and have forever been the starry-eyed idealist wanting to see the best of web3 realized but encountering the pressures and red tape of web2 business practices. I was affectionately referred to as the "give it all away guy" internally. This isn't because they DON'T want to give stuff away, but just cause it doesn't always math in a way that it is justifiable. This is frustrating, but true.
So this is where @LFGincorporated comes in. We exist to be a full service project foundry and incubator for the whole web3 world, with a special place in our hearts for the $GALA and #GalaChain ecosystems.
One super super super important point is that LFG IS NOT GALA. This means that we can have all sorts of conversations that are in the best interest of the ecosystem as a whole without taking the good of the COMPANY into consideration. We can work with and partner with and who we can talk to.
Working with Gala, the company, I couldn't work with a lot of creators (like @0xJesusMartinez, etc) because they did exactly what a lot of creators in the space do (whether they should or not is another question for another time). In my capacity as an employee of the COMPANY, I could not even have some of these conversations. However, now that I am outside of the company, I can engage with them in a much more candid manner. I have never been shy about what I have seen as the shortcomings of Gala (while also seeing it as the creators of the ecosystem with the most growth potential in the space), but now I am quite unchained in terms of what I can talk about and who I can engage with.
The other thing that I can do now is fund stuff that I believe in. At Gala, there was a whole process, complete with PowerPoints and revenue projections, to determine whether something should have been done. This applied to partnerships, advertising, events, etc...but it requires that MATH be available to create those justifications. That isn't always possible.

The blockchain space never ceases to amaze me...the lengths people will go to to create FUD is incredible.
A couple days ago, a random jackass (0x1cbb5b172e507fc70fc09c4c141400fecf00bd2c) created a contract for something called "GALAX" and as part of the deployment it sent...
