@jasonriverastl There is a real perception problem that I think comes from the crime situation. Also, FL and TN state tax situation is way more attractive.
Both are things we could fix and compete with, if someone with cajones would actually try :)
@ophello His story changed. He was adamant he got degrees and they were wiped.
Now he's sort of admitting he didn't really get a degree per se, but he went there to learn something and self-classified that as a degree.
Doesnt bear on the broader story, just hurts his credibility.
@alexboge I sooo want to believe him, though :D
The story is on its face semi-believable, but its easy to poke holes (of which there are many), and there isn't much in the way of tangible substantiating evidence. You sort of just have to believe the story, or not.
@Mr_BenPrime In the past his claim was that he bought the hydride but that it was expensive and also associated with weapons manufacturing so easy to get flagged buying it. Did that story change and now hes saying he made it himself?
@SteveSkojec In the early days of the story, he was insistent he got masters degrees from these places and his records "were wiped" -- this is a big departure IMO.
To be clear, I don't say this as a detractor. I've listened to countless hours of Lazar material, every Art Bell interview, etc
@SteveSkojec That's one way to look at it.
Another is that he can't backtrack on it cause he'll look like a big liar. Its so immaterial to the bigger story. Why not just say "you know what, I didn't really get a degree but I wanted to get the name cred so I could get hired in the 80s"
@Rizstanford He almost certainly lied about his educational background, which I think was more of a thing in those days. Also doesn’t help his overall believability that he never recanted, but at the same time I still find the body of his story credible.
@DavidAmelottiTV What happened to all the money from the NFL settlement? Inject that into revitalizing downtown and make it an actual destination. As long as downtown is in its current state, I actually don't think its possible to be taken seriously as a city.
@Ackerman1120 I am flabbergasted at how St. Louis as a city is managed. I really don't get it. The atrophy of downtown should be priority #1, and fixing it would dramatically increase STL's cachet amongst similar tier cities.
@awfulannouncing St. Louis, for lots of different reasons, isn't a downtown city. Weekends during the summer around ballgames its a different situation, but pre-summer break rainy weekday, yeah nobody there.
