@TTrimoreau AI managing my finances:
“You’re absolutely right. Buying a Porsche GT3 RS is a perfectly reasonable financial decision. The debt is temporary, but the GT3 RS is forever.”
@not_sacke Honestly still figuring that part out myself lol. Building the product is the fun part. Getting people to actually discover and use it is a completely different challenge.
Congrats on shipping though!
Just watched MKBHD’s video on Apple HomeView.
No App Store? Really?
That was honestly the one thing I was most excited about. Seeing what developers could build to make it more than just another smart home display.
Now I’m genuinely struggling to see why I’d choose this over an iPad in the kitchen.
Honestly, Grok Bots are really useful. Are they worth $30/month if you already have another AI subscription? Probably not.
The real value is having an autonomous agent with its own computer.
From my experience, most of these workflows don’t necessarily need frontier models. Smaller local models could handle a lot of them.
I’m actually building something along those lines using local models on my 16GB Macs, with an iPhone companion app to manage everything remotely.
Basically trying to recreate Grok Bots locally without the subscription limits. Still early, but pretty excited about it.
@TomPatten887765 That’s actually a great idea! More detailed specs would definitely add to the experience. I’ll get working on that tonight. Appreciate the feedback!
My friends and I argue about cars constantly. Which ones are going up, which ones are overpriced, who's got the worst taste.
So I made a game to settle it. Fake money, real cars, one leaderboard. That's MarqueShares.
@DenisCerednice1 At 35 followers, the biggest thing I’ve noticed is that interacting with other people’s posts gets me way more traction than posting on my own.
Actually engaging in conversations seems to be the best way to grow when you’re starting from zero.
@Shahbaztwt Way more productive. AI lets me work on multiple things at once and makes much bigger projects realistic to tackle as a solo developer.
Sure, there’s more to fix sometimes, but the overall productivity gain is massive.
@theofinr I’d definitely like to grow, but I’m mostly just having fun with it. Honestly, the most rewarding part so far has been interacting with people and hearing different perspectives on things. The growth would just be a nice bonus.
Apple just announced HomeView. Great demo. Living alone, my smart home already works fine from Control Center, and my Google Home became decoration after a couple of weeks.
The apps developers build for it will decide if this one ends up the same way.
@DevaiahShrithan I have the 100$ Claude sub and the 100$ ChatGPT sub. Might change the GPT sub to something else though. Thinking of checking the new Muse model out..
