@lydadok_ This is a natural push back to brands overdone attempts to appear socially responsible. It’s obvious that the facade they present is not representative of the company’s operations
@RoyaltyDavidson I have mixed feelings about moves like this since it can help boost up and coming creators but it also gatekeeps viral success. Its turning into old media
@jaxflap2 Social media allows anyone to broadcast themselves to a potentially huge audience so employers must rethink their employees role as ambassadors and representatives. It would be unfair to expect journalists to remain silent on twitter, separation from their org would be better
@emmelysdunk It’s interesting to see that soon after saying this he bought a voting share of Twitter. Maybe he sees that other “alternative” social medias have failed and he would do better trying to redirect an existing one?
@emmelysdunk Isolating the Russian people from the world does nothing except Putin indoctrinate, the eastern bloc used to have to prevent western media from getting in but now we’re doing it ourselves
@jaxflap2 This is definitely a dark side of the nature of social media but I still believe it has helped to spread truth about conflicts like Ukraine as many other accounts are able to post unbiased reports without needing press on site
@RoyaltyDavidson I agree, most of these Russian influencers don’t represent the views of the Russian government and removing their accounts prevents us from seeing how people are internally reacting
@Isabellajour104 Since it doesn’t seem like these platforms are ever going to be held to verify what is said, it becomes even more important for online community members to be active consumers of information
@Isabellades765 This seems like a natural reaction as being active on social media has become the standard, removing yourself becomes the alternative. Glad I archived all my Instagram posts before college!
@Isabellajour104 Never heard of this before! But it is a shame that black content creators didn’t capitalize on it and white teens have become the face of it on tiktok
@RoyaltyDavidson We must be careful in how we take celebrity news like this, social media seemingly to closes the gap between us and them but there is risk of astroturfing to promote their brand
@jaxflap2 With social media regional marginalized communities can connect across distances to share their experiences and raise awareness to others, still an uphill battle but with hope.
