I received a call from reporter Benčatová from Reportéri STVR. She wanted to ask me about information regarding a criminal case that was widely discussed in the media last month, with over 400 articles in the Czech Republic and Slovakia. According to reports, the case was halted by the prosecutor on October 18.

However, we learned from the media, specifically from Denník N, where there was an interview between Mrs. Janešíková and Mrs. Ciroková. In the interview, the journalist asked Mrs. Ciroková whether complaints had been filed regarding the case, and Mrs. Ciroková confirmed this. So, it was directly stated that the criminal proceedings are not yet concluded.

My question is this: Mrs. Benčatová repeatedly asked me to provide statements that could potentially interfere with the investigation. I told her twice that, according to the media reports, the case is ongoing, and I will act in compliance with the law, not obstruct the investigation, and refrain from interfering in its process.

‼️ By the way, I asked her how it was possible that a reporter from Reportéri had an investigative file on her desk. She replied that “it landed on her desk.”

⁉️My question is: is it completely normal for the investigative file of an ongoing criminal case to end up on the desk of an STVR reporter?
