The Earth was fully stocked: water to drink, soil to grow food, forests to shelter us, a sun that rises every day, a moon that moves water, and oceans that regulate the climate. Then, men invented war, debt and capitalism.
Britain is not "ungovernable". It is governed according to an economic model that has delivered almost two decades of stagnant living standards and national decline. Everything is downstream of that. It is why prime ministers become so unpopular so quickly, and why their governments keep collapsing into crisis.
I hope people can wake up and see what this is really about: controlling access to information. The internet democratized access to news and information, and people in power do not want that!
They are genuinely trying to prosecute people for cleaning up the rivers, while doing nothing to stop the people polluting them.
The UK Government is sick.
“Giving children their childhood back?”
So reopening the 2,000 youth clubs closed under neoliberalism? The 1,000 children’s centres?
Recreating the 10,000 + playing fields lost?
Or the 800 playgrounds lost in the last 10 years?
The 1,000 libraries?
The after-school clubs closed?
I’m not a tech person so maybe this is dumb but isnt it easier to create a “children’s phone” at point of sale so you get a phone with built-in restrictions rather than asking every single person in the country whether they are over 16 or not through hackable digital ID software?
"Stare at a wall" is, unfortunately, likely to prove accurate because you just know they're not going to invest in creating more third spaces where children can actually go when they're not online.
that’s the question isn’t it. what WILL she do? there are no youth clubs for her to attend. food, cinema tickets, any sort of third space activity is all too expensive. their parents are underpaid, saturday jobs don’t exist any more, children have truly been abandoned by the govt
In my lifetime, China lifted 850 million people out of poverty, while the US created one trillionaire. It is clear as day that socialism is the key to our future.
There you have it. Anthropic's CEO said it: The murder of more than 100 schoolgirls in Minab targeted by Anthropic's CLAUDE "is a use case that doesn't even violate our red lines." Time to rise up against these technofeudal war criminals.
China is using AI to process its garbage and recycle or compost it.
It is currently going through old landfill sites and expects to be able to reduce their size by at least 60%.
This is because China is a functioning country not crippled by Capitalism.
If you can’t tax billionaires and trillionaire because “its unrealized gains until they cash out,” then stop letting them leverage that wealth for loans, as collateral, or as equity.
If it’s not real enough to tax, it shouldn’t be real enough to leverage.
This is why we say the system is rigged in favor of the super wealthy. Abolish billionaires, tax them out of existence, protect working people.
Don't be mean to the trillionaire, just become a trillionaire yourself! All you need is luck, connections, wealthy parents, the ruthlessness to step on anyone who gets in your way, and a willingness to cooperate with murderous imperial institutions like the Pentagon and the CIA!
There’s a clear pattern here: removing trial by jury for a whole layer of cases; blocking Cenk Uyghur and Hasan Piker from entering the country; the Filton 4 being sentenced as terrorists but not charged as terrorists (yes, really); a British citizen in Russia having his citizenship removed without being charged with anything; stuff like this - constantly.
It’s becoming so normal now. There’s a great phrase ‘turnkey tyranny’: you might like the people doing this today, or despise those on the receiving end, but tomorrow it WILL be different. The end point is very obvious. And these tools, and this trajectory, in the wrong hands, is quite a terrifying thought.
I am 52 years old. I have been working since I was 15 years old. I have no savings, no retirement, and will never own a home before I die.
And there is now a trillionaire.
