Busy day today working alongside @MEDLIFEmovement to set up a (literally) mobile health clinic in the communities who live in the steep hills of Lima, Peru. During the day, 130 patients passed through triage, education, medicine, obs/gyn and pharmacy!
Here we are back in Lima, Peru with @MEDLIFEmovement working with the communities. Today we toured the area to re-acclimatise. Despite it being winter, it was hot, dusty with no running water and sanitation. Tomorrow, we will be setting up a mobile health clinic @BCU_CYPnursing
What better use of a bank holiday Monday than listening to @TamsinGreig making everything sound better? BBC Radio 4 - The Cure for Good Intentions by Sophie Harrison https://t.co/Bg5lzpCZou
@BCUNursingteam Sadly the sun has now set on my trip! At Schipol now, soon to return to the beautiful Birmingham! An incredible week - so many great opportunities being part of the @BCUNursingteam. Part two now starts with two @BCUHELS staff and 10 students now carrying on their journey in Cusco
Our time in Lima, working with @MEDLIFEmovement has been more than just improving physical access by building staircases... we have also helped with a number of pop up #healthclinics improving access to essential #healthcare for those who need it most. @BCUHELS@BCUNursingteam
@Ladylonky I recognise those pictures Leona... I wonder who took them 🤔🤣. Yes - I really am going to miss the views as the #sunsets on my trip to Lima. #thankful#lucky#nature
It is amazing what can be achieved when working #handinhand with the local communities in Peru. Look at the stair case that we @BCUHELS volunteers helped to build in just 5 days! The celebrations were amazing! #wedidit@BCUNursingteam@MEDLIFEmovement
@Aneesabibi2 Good luck Aneesa! - remember to support your answers with all the great experience you have had to date e.g. ‘my mentors on ward x recognised my organisation and time management skills when I ...’ #staypositive#youcandoit
A day of hard, dusty, hot work helping to build a much needed staircase in Lima - improving access for those that have navigate this steep terrain everyday #helsgoabroad@BCUNursingteam
Sunday in Lima was about acclimatising to the heat and checking in with Mr. P Bear! The important work starts today though, as we are visiting the low income communities in the hills who live without the utilities and comforts that #wetakeforgranted#HELSgoabroad@BCUNursingteam
The proudest day of Grace’s life was graduating as a doctor. Then she began treating patients - a very insightful article/pictorial representation of some of the difficult issues faced in medicine. Well worth a read... https://t.co/ZQ72UWEC1H
