Man jailed for perjury and perverting the course of justice, is on Sky News talking about trust.
“It’s not a mistake Margaret Thatcher would have made,” he pompously intones.
Well, we all make mistakes, don’t we Jeffrey? Though most of us don’t do time for them.
More implications of AI for journalism* and libel law? 'Honest opinion' is a key defence -- that perhaps does not apply when content is AI-generated... @richarddanbury
*if it counts as journalism
Interesting. Reviewing is usually protected in libel by the defence of honest opinion.
An AI, I would suggest, is incapable of having an opinion and whether or not it is honest would be impossible to determine.
I look forward to the court case where an artist sues the bots.
And here he breaks down while explaining the absolute trauma experienced by smaller hospitals in particular - the "healthier" ICU patients were transferred out, leaving them coping with so much death.
They felt so alone.
@jamesrbuk Brand review strategy strikes again? Also: doesn't one of the escalators up from the tube station funnel passengers (sorry, customers...) towards an Outernet entrance, probably nudging up 'visits'? @ianvisits@diamondgeezer
Imagine if a BBC News presenter posted mocked-up images of a Conservative politician in Jewish religious dress, and suggested a vote for the party would lead to the Jewish takeover of Britain.

Language here from @AP seems more like an ad or sponsored post -- strong evaluative words such as "triumphant" with no quotes or attribution?! Seems very odd, at best @APNews@JuliePace@davidfolkenflik@jackshafer Am I missing something?
Donald Trump made a triumphant return to Capitol Hill on Thursday, his first with lawmakers since the Jan.6, 2021 attacks, embraced by energized House and Senate Republicans who find themselves reinvigorated by his bid to retake the White House.
Great to see @kirkkorner's important work recognised, exposing the appalling unfairness of this largely hidden 'conveyor belt justice' system. Congrats, Tristan!
We're fortunate to have had him working with some @cityjournalism MA students, too.
Last night Tristan Kirk won the 2024 Paul Foot Award for his investigation into how the "single justice procedure" makes justice impossible for people without the means or wherewithal to challenge the system, creating a conveyor belt system that has removed humanity and fairness from the law.

Fab metaphor here by @stephenkb -- comparing the Conservative party manifesto to "getting someone flowers from a petrol station". In his @FT newsletter, Inside Politics.
Political journalism and analysis can be creative and entertaining, as well as astute.
Senior French official:
“We are celebrating the Entente Cordiale in our own way. You offered us such a political shitshow for years that we owe you a bit back”

EXCL: In his D Day interview - at a time of CCHQ’s choosing - Rishi Sunak sits down to discuss the personal & political.
When asked how he can relate to voters - what he’s ever gone without - he says as a child he had to forgo “Sky TV”.
