Saudi-backed forces launch air strikes near Bab al-Mandab and target northern Yemen
——
Saudi-backed forces carried out four air strikes in the Bab al-Mandab area, according to Saba News Agency. The reported attacks come amid continued military operations by forces backed by Riyadh against areas under the control of Yemen's Armed Forces.
The reports also said Saudi-backed forces launched air strikes on Harf Sufyan district in Amran governorate, north of Sanaa, while a separate missile attack targeted populated villages in the Razih border district of Saada.
According to Al-Masirah, an airstrike targeted the residence of Judge Ali al-Samai in the Sameh district of Yemen's southwestern Taiz governorate, resulting in the death of his wife and one of his sons.
19 Iranian ships face supply shortages off Sri Lanka as Colombo weighs response
——
Sri Lanka has no immediate plans to assist 19 Iranian ships anchored in international waters near the island nation, despite reported shortages of food, water and fuel, the government said.
Foreign Ministry spokesperson Thushara Rodrigo said Colombo would prioritize its national interests before considering any assistance. He added that the companies supplying the vessels are aware of the risk of secondary sanctions imposed by the US.
However, Rodrigo noted that Washington has not contacted Sri Lanka to warn of potential repercussions if it decides to provide assistance.
The vessels are currently stationed 24 nautical miles off Sri Lanka’s coast and have reported shortages of essential supplies, including food, water and fuel.

Congress is threatening to individually subpoena me and my @BTnewsroom colleagues @ZoeAlexandra_ok and @radiofreeamanda if we don’t forfeit our first amendment rights. All because they don’t like our reporting on Gaza and ICE.
Help us fight this attack on freedom of the press:

Alright, let’s end this week on a positive and support Mohammed and his family in Gaza. One thing we can continue to directly do to help ease the burdens of so many Palestinians, directly, is support these campaigns. Can we raise $500?

There are many painful details in my report about breast cancer in Gaza, one of which is that doctors are forced to perform full mastectomies even in cases where the tumor is small, simply because the Israeli occupation prevents radiation therapy from entering the Strip.
A takfiri terrorist group supported by the US has claimed responsibility for the assassination of Dr. Nusrat Eftekhari, the cultural and social deputy of the Sistan and Baluchestan Provence police command. She was murdered in a terrorist attack this afternoon.
🚨 donate urgently to the children of Gaza 🚨

💔 Watch the two children at the beginning of this video… they were waiting for us to arrive with bread.
At an age when children should be waiting for playtime, our children stand waiting for food. Waiting for bread should never become part of anyone’s childhood.
Behind that wait is a deeper pain: a mother counting what food remains, a father searching for something to bring his children, and a family trying to make too little stretch far enough for everyone.
🍞 Today, we distributed bread in Gaza because of your support. But the cruelest thing about hunger is that today’s meal cannot protect a child from tomorrow’s hunger.
The video ends, but these families’ need for food does not. The children return to their tents. Evening comes, then another morning when they need bread all over again.
We are Project Muhmmed, a young team working from the heart of Gaza. We reach families ourselves and deliver your support with our own hands. Every contribution helps us return with what they need and helps a mother put bread before her children.
🤍 Thank you to everyone who donated, shared, and made today’s distribution possible, and to our friends who continue to stand beside us:
William @willmenaker
Eyup @eyuplovely
Felix @ByYourLogic
🙏 Before you close this video, remember the two children waiting at the beginning. Help us keep reaching them and others like them. Donate whatever you can, and share this appeal so it reaches someone who can help.
No child should have to worry that the bread might never come.

We asked Palestinians in Gaza what they have lost that now feels like a dream.
Safety. Security. Stability. The right to life itself. These were the most common, and heartbreaking, answers.
Support Gaza here: https://t.co/uFKKDqN8Aw
Three years of genocide have stripped Palestinians of the most basic human rights. Tents cannot replace homes. Community kitchens cannot replace a mother’s cooking. Water trucks cannot replace turning on a tap and feeling cool, running water. Education, healthcare, freedom, and the simple comforts of everyday life have all been taken away.
These are the foundations of a dignified life.
The Sameer Project works every day to restore some of what has been lost, but emergency aid can never replace the lives Palestinians deserve.
Please help us continue providing food, water, shelter, healthcare, and support to families in Gaza. They deserve so much more than survival.

US envoy Barrack pushed business partner’s firm for $15 billion Hormuz bypass pipeline project
——
Thomas Barrack, a senior US diplomat in West Asia, pushed for a company linked to his business partner to participate in a project to develop an oil pipeline connecting Iraq and Syria, according to three people familiar with the matter to Reuters. The activities appear to breach federal ethics rules.
In July, Iraq and Syria signed memorandums of understanding with a consortium comprising California-based investment firm TI Capital, Chevron and Qatar’s UCC Holding to conduct technical and financial studies ahead of rehabilitating the pipeline, which would bypass the Strait of Hormuz chokepoint.
Barrack, who serves as the US presidential special envoy to Iraq and Syria and ambassador to Turkiye, has longstanding business ties with TI Capital and its founder, Ziad Ghandour. Public records show that during his 2025 confirmation hearings, Barrack held a financial interest entitling him to as much as 20% of the profits from a real estate venture near San Francisco managed by TI Capital, where Ghandour serves as CEO. Barrack said at the time that he intended to retain the interest.
Two people with direct knowledge of the discussions said Barrack advocated for Ghandour’s company to be included in the pipeline project during meetings with Syrian and Iraqi officials after the US-Israeli war on Iran began.
On 16 June, a month before the consortium agreement was signed, Barrack and Iraqi Prime Minister Ali al-Zaidi issued a joint statement praising Iraq’s decision "to advance a memorandum of understanding with TI Capital to rehabilitate the Kirkuk-Baniyas Pipeline." The statement did not mention Chevron or UCC Holding in connection with the project.
US preparing to resume major attacks against Iran despite Trump's public restraint
——
The Pentagon has drawn up options for an intensive three-day bombing campaign against Iran, targeting its missile and drone arsenal, energy facilities, and Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) command posts, The New York Times reports, citing US officials.
The plans were developed at President Donald Trump's direction, despite his repeated rejection of proposals to resume major combat operations in recent months. Senior national security officials, led by Vice President JD Vance, discussed the options during a meeting at Camp David last Friday, according to the report.
The proposed campaign would allegedly focus on Iran's missile and drone capabilities, which the IRGC has been rebuilding since the early stages of the US-Israeli war launched on 28 February.
Energy infrastructure and military headquarters are also among the potential targets. The report comes as the Pentagon has directed US Central Command (CENTCOM) to complete preparations for a possible resumption of major attacks, with no date set for an attack and no final decision announced by Trump. Axios separately reported that the preparations could include large-scale strikes on Iranian energy infrastructure and nuclear facilities.
Trump said on Thursday that Washington would not attack Iran before the 3 November US midterm elections, citing what he described as "productive discussions" with Tehran. The preparations nevertheless coincide with a major US military buildup near Iran, with three aircraft carriers expected to be deployed in the region in the coming weeks.
Imagine living in a tent just a hundred meters from where your home once stood. Or is it still standing? You don’t even know. The uncertainty is heartbreaking, but the reality could be even worse.
Give to Gaza: https://t.co/YR8kpxmtBQ
This is life near Gaza’s yellow-line. Constant sounds of shelling and gunfire, the ever present threat of death, and families living in fear just meters from the homes and neighborhoods they were forced to abandon.
Yet they remain steadfast, determined to hold their ground, refusing to allow the occupation to push its yellow concrete barriers farther west, stealing more and more Palestinian land.
These families are not asking for much. They want to return to their homes, their streets, their lives. Until then, The Sameer Project is working to support those living in these dangerous, underserved areas. Help us stand with them. Donate to our General Fund: https://t.co/YR8kpxmtBQ

US charity plans AI surveillance of Gaza classrooms to flag 'hateful' speech
——
A US charity operating in Gaza is concerned that teachers at its schools could deviate from a curriculum it describes as promoting peace and tolerance. To address this, it plans to record classroom discussions and deploy artificial intelligence to identify language considered “hateful” or “inciting.”
The proposal was outlined last month by the founder of Gaza Children Village during a webinar, prompting ethical, security and privacy concerns among Palestinian groups, advocacy organizations and at least one of the charity’s partners.
Palestinian rights organizations have criticized the charity’s broader educational agenda, arguing that it operates without accountability to local and UN agencies that have historically overseen Gaza’s schools.
It remains unclear when the classroom surveillance system will be introduced, which specific language it will flag, or whether teachers, students and their families have been informed of the plans.
Dr. David Hasan, the charity’s founder, says his goal is to ‘de-radicalize’ Gaza.

Three years of war in Lebanon, these years of devastation. More than 7 per cent of the country occupied by Israel. The south ravaged. Thousands killed in Israeli strikes. A slew of ceasefires that were never upheld.
This is what’s left of Mansouri, a village outside the occupied area, reduced to rubble after the June ceasefire.
Ahmad’s life changed after the Israeli occupation fired a gas canister in his direction, exposing him to toxic fumes that left him in his current condition. He has lived in The Sameer Project’s Refaat Alareer Camp for over two years. He cannot walk, speak, eat, or move independently.
Support here: https://t.co/xuIrgEi2ih
Now, Ahmad survives with the help of a breathing tube, feeding tube, and catheter. He is entirely dependent on others for his most basic needs. He has also endured the unimaginable trauma of witnessing his brother being killed, horror upon horror.
Recently, Ahmad’s feeding tube became infected and urgently needed replacing. But in Gaza, even basic medical supplies like feeding tubes are extremely difficult to find. Something that should be a routine medical procedure becomes another desperate search for the equipment needed to keep him alive.
The Sameer Project provides Ahmad with medical care, supplies, shelter, and whatever support we can. But what he truly needs is specialized treatment that simply isn't available in Gaza.
His father has not given up hope. He continues to plead for his son to be medically evacuated abroad, hoping that with proper treatment, Ahmad might regain even a fraction of what has been taken from him. The ability to speak. To move. To communicate. To live with some independence again.
Please continue supporting Ahmad's daily care by donating to our Refaat Alareer Camp Campaign. Until he can access the treatment he needs, we will continue doing everything within our power to care for him. Donate: https://t.co/xuIrgEi2ih
