@gregwrubell@GBSHansO Not sure how to quantify this, but it seems that there is better depth on this team than any BYU team ever. It’s only game two, but anytime someone goes down the next man up seems to be ready to go with little drop off. No?
19 years ago today I was baptized to join The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
However I was converted to the Gospel a few months earlier.
Sometime in February of 2004 I had lost a gold cross necklace my mom had given me before I immigrated to America. I was heartbroken. That necklace was a symbol of hope and faith of the journey I was entering.
I looked everywhere. The house I lived in, my room, cars I rode in through rides, school locker rooms, bags. I even went back to an away gym we played. Nothing. So I decided to follow Moroni’s promise. I knelt down and prayed.
As I prayed and shared my faith in the Mormon Church, in believing the things I had learned the previous months, I saw as crystal clear as the light of day and as I see the words I am typing here. My necklace was under the snow by the gutter outside my house. I ran there and cleared the snow and there was the necklace. I went back inside crying, cleaned in and kissed it like crazy.
As I left it to dry, I decided to pray if I should join the LDS Church. Between tears and happiness, I poured my heart out to Heavenly Father and asked if I should be baptized. As I did, I felt like I was levitating and felt so much peace and love and truly an out of body experience. I had never felt the Holy Ghost that strong in my life before. I knew what that meant.
I got up, put on a suit, walked to the bishop’s house and told him I was ready to be baptized. He hugged me and then as we planned things, he helped me organize things to be baptized in Brazil in the summer so my mom and dad could be a part of it.
Being baptized is a one-time thing usually. Being converted is a daily thing. As today marks my baptism day, I can’t help but wonder how many times I’ve been converted in the last 2 decades.
A high school in Louisiana was experiencing a disturbing increase in fights and violence. 23 students were arrested in just 3 days.
So a group of dads decided to hang out at the school. They took shifts. All the fights suddenly stopped.
There's a lesson in here. 👑
I am often asked about the responsibilities of being a member of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The purpose of this short video is to give you a glimpse into what a day in my life is like.
Utah’s CEO of Basketball Danny Ainge is doing a fantastic job rearranging Utah roster and acquiring 13 unprotected or lightly protected picks. I don’t think he’s done yet!
