@jordan_chalders@PhilHay_ I don’t think a 20 goal a season striker is easy to come by personally, that within our budget and I don’t think we have the pull to bring one in either
@ellufc I think it’s clear he wanted to further his career and wouldn’t of signed a new contract so it was now or never to get a decent fee for him. Let’s hope now that the money is reinvested wisely.
@tommy_lufc It’s also been confirmed that other offers were on the table but Phillips only wanted Man City. Goes with my blessing and I hope that Orta gets the right replacement as it’s going to cost around that fee to replace
@tommy_lufc I think in the context of fees, it’s pretty much bang on for me. Becomes the 5th most expensive CDM in the world and only 2 years left on his deal
@LUFC7173@GrahamSmyth Bielsa was meticulous and I’m pretty sure all players had to make a certain weight. He knew that the pool of talent we had wasn’t going to be the best but tried to make us the fittest team in the league so the players would have that advantage over their opponents
@JoshAHobbs People go on about improving the team and bringing in more depth and yet will happily sell important players. It doesn’t all happen in one transfer window, I think we only sign 4/5 players for the 1st team unless we lose more than Raphinha
@McClumsy84 Raphinha is unfortunately at a level we’re nowhere near yet, the club will get what he’s worth. He leaves with my blessing and the money will be used to strengthen and improve
@TSSLUFC I hate transfer windows. People think we need to get rid of the full starting 11 and replace them with a new 11 + better players for depth. People play too much career mode
@lufcgrace There’s always a scapegoat. They only ever see the negatives in these players. For me, I’ll happily criticise a player and also give credit where due. He had a good game 2nd half. People however, find it easier to criticise than ever give credit
@MrROSSii1990 I would expect to see 3-4 signings this summer to gradually increase the quality of the 18 1st teamers. Don’t think it’s realistic to replace that many all in one go
@dublinjames@GrahamSmyth The man for man system relied on people winning their individual duals and teams figured out that you can easily drag a player out of position which would consequently create space in dangerous areas
@dublinjames@GrahamSmyth I don’t think I have enough characters to explain this but in short the difference is that the shift to zonal makes us harder to play through. We force the opponent out wide and limit the spaces in the middle. Forcing them to put a cross in and relying on our defence to clear it
@richiejones889@StevieDee710@jacqueslufc @jfoot14 Players of quality take time to bring in, can’t all be done in one window and aren’t always freely available. We’ve bought into a project and I believe this summer will see 2-3 quality addition
@goldsize@philthy50@jacqueslufc Difference being is that Sheffield United couldn’t score last season. That’s not our issue, it’s the other end. Once everything clicks, we’ll be fine in my opinion
@AshJohnson20 @cmcmenamy95 @PhilHay_ I think this year people have taken note of the long balls more as the majority have been unsuccessful. I genuinely think the amount we’ve played short and long remains the same
