Im always asked if anything has changed since I was homeless on the streets fifty yrs ago. In 1976 I was thrown out of the care system after spending the 1st 16yrs of my life locked up in care in Scotland. Within weeks I had the equivilent of a £100 a day drug habit to ease the pain of the traumatic sexual abuse I had suffered. I was a social misfit and quickly became a social outcast because I couldnt fit in anywhere, It was clear that no one could handle my situation and I became more and more drawn to the streets where I found more people who had been through similar experiences and I became a survivor. There was no where for people like me to turn to and every time I cried out to a doctor in Scotland for help my script became bigger and bigger, which meant my dependancy became higher and higher and my tolerance levels went up and up. Like so many other abandoned children ( I was still 16/17) I ran away to London, only to find a river of Scottish children who like me had been through an abusive childhood either in the care system or in the home, all of whom had been sexually abused, beaten, starved, silenced, isolated, abandoned, disbeleived, discredited, inprisoned or thrown into mental hospitals simply because no one knew how to deal with them.. Over the next 20yrs I saw hundreds of children turn up on the streets, many quickly turned into prostitutes and rent boys and would get into big flash cars and completley dissapear of the face of the earth. I would wait for hours for them to come back because at the time, I was the only friend they had in the world and they were the only friend I had. After a few years I tried visiting Scotland to look for my family and I met them a few times but it never worked out. Over the years I have made many attempts to connect with my family but it never worked out.Back in the early days, I always found myself on the streets in Edinburgh or Glasgow and I realised things were exaclty the same in Scotland and I quickly found and became attached to so many young people and adults on the streets who like me had been through the care system throughout Scotland and had been abused in their childhood and none of them could find anywhere to get help. I always found Scotland harder because there was simply no where for people to turn, and no one talked about child sex abuse and I always found myself running back down to England. Lady Smith the Chair of the Scottish child abuse inquiry said recently. "Scotland has to take responsibility for turning its back on its children who were in care over the last 50/60yrs," and I believe she said this because she realised what many of us have been saying for years, that NOTHING HAS CHANGED. The biggest problem is that until Scotland learns to deal with its past it cannot look to the future. This idea that Scotland is a country that puts its children 1st is a complete myth. What we have had over the last 10 or so yrs is that in Scotland children have stopped being a priority and have turned into a comodity. A new breed of childcare developed where everyone wants to be seen to be trauma informed because there is big money to be made out of trauma but only through deselection, or what we call cherry picking trauma. Politicians love to be seen and have a photo with the wee smiling face child who spent a couple of years in adoption and they are going to do everything to make sure this child wants for nothing, and that person can say they are doing their bit.. What you dont see is that politician and many organisations will happily trample over the kids who are high maintance and who are drowning in a sea of trauma and misery caused by abuse and poverty, teenagers covered in spots and track marks. These are the ever increasing kids that go through the revolving doors of addiction, crime, homelessness and prison and no one can do anything because its became too big a problem to fix. We know if all the survivors of child sex abuse were to come forward it would cost hundreds of millions of pounds but instead of adopting a compassionate approach we fast track survivors through the criminal justice system and put their children in the care system. We have halls filled with conferences on childhood trauma where no one talks about child sex abuse and survivors and campaigners of child sex abuse who speak out are labelled as troublemakers and discredited. Even now fifty years later I travel to London and I always go back to the places where we all used to gather round a fire singing beatles songs and I put on my headsets and play the same songs. I can hear all my brothers and sisters and i can smell them and I can see their faces. As recently as 2019 when I was working with @SocialBite_ in Edinburgh they were telling me that they were concerned that a lot of young kids aged 17/18 were coming through their doors with stories of abuse. We found young kids in Edinburgh who had been in care and who were in prostitution. Many of these kids were carrying serious trauma and had been through so many doors of social services and child abuse charities and the Scottish criminal justice system. They had been sexually abused, beaten, starved, silenced, isolated, abandoned, disbeleived, discredited, and gone through the prison system and always found themselves back on the streets and when I looked in their eyes I saw my young brother and sisters from all those years ago. This is why I wont stop speaking. One day, ALL our voices WILL be heard. SURVIVORS UNITED..
Människans IQ sjunker i Skandinavien.

The clever people at @NASA have created this deceptively simple yet highly effective data visualisation showing monthly global temperatures between 1880-2021. Watch until the end...
