This week, Torsten Bell became the third longest serving pensions minister of the last 20 years... Still a way to go before he overtakes Steve Webb and Guy Opperman though - https://t.co/03CIOzO56m
If the best rates for an annuity at age 65 - escalating at 3% with a survivors’ pension of 50% - are currently c.5.3% then an annual pension income of £70-£80,000 a year would cost a DC saver somewhere between £1.3m and £1.5m if bought at retirement. Is that roughly right? (2)
I have done some very rough calcs... Based on a typical career progression for a doctor in the NHS and the rules of the current 2015 NHS Pension Scheme – a hospital doctor could expect an estimated annual pension income of between £70,000 and £80,000 upon retiring (1)
@SouthernRailUK Having problems getting home on Southern. Was on the 22:35 from Vic to Baa but no driver. Told to leave that train to get on 23:05 to Horsham and that onward travel would be sorted. Can't find OBS on this train to assist - can you help please.
Emma Reynolds' tenure as pensions minister (189 days) was the third shortest since the role was created in its modern form in July 1998. She is only beaten by John Denham (155 days) and Alex Burghart (38 days). See: https://t.co/03CIOzOCVU
@Tess_invests Taste would cover booziness I think... But it may need pointing out in the scoring notes. I find booziness to be divisive though - some feel overly boozy mince pies aren't great, others love them.
Will this be the third time as pensions minister for Sir Stephen Timms?

HM Treasury has told Professional Pensions it is working on a further package of growth investment measures to bring forward by autumn. The PPF says it 'stands ready' to support both the government and industry.
