Engineer turned pundit. I never lie.

@scoobernetic@ProfAviLoeb The laws of physics are universal and can't be overcome. The first question BTW is how would another civilization know to come here?
@atensnut I had one similar, and as an experiment in 1992 hooked up a laptop via an acoustic coupler and sent an email from deep in the woods of the Sierra Nevada foothills, just to prove it was possible.
Agreed. It is about predicting the future based on applied science. Engineers predicted they could build the Golden Gate Bridge, and then they did it. Engineers and scientists predicted they could send humans to the Moon and then they did it. ETs visiting Earth is pretty much close to 0 probability, for a lot of reasons.

@CuriosityonX Because it is a complicated problem. First issue is finding a place worthy of visiting, which is unfathomably difficult. How would the Earth be detected from a 1000 light years in a solar system that has two booming radio sources, Jupiter and the Sun?
The only team clearly playing better than the USMNT right now is Argentina. Other traditional powerhouses have ties or losses, or in the case of Germany beat up on a team from country with a 156,000 population.
@AlexiLalas I was at the Brazil game at Stanford and have been having great fun describing that, and you in particular. You had some fantastic plays right in front of where I was sitting with a friend.
There is no such thing as race, but there is geographic concentration of phenotypes, and interesting how some Uzbekis on their soccer team look they could be Chinese.
@DailyMail Tyson believe men can become women which disqualifies his "scientific" opinion. The fact that that he happens to be right about UFOs is entirely a coincidence.
