To commemorate Freddie’s walk-off home run in Game 1 of the 2024 World Series, we painted the seat blue where the ball landed in the Right Field Pavillion in Section 306, Row K, Seat 5.
“When we strapped it on and said three-peat, we all knew it’s the only chance we’re gonna get at this.”
The Dodgers enter October with a chance at history. But their veteran core is getting older, and they know it. Could this be their last ride?

I remember when Dr. Jerry Buss was building the Showtime Lakers and searching for someone who could bring a unique presence to the organization as a PA announcer. He wanted a voice that was powerful, memorable, and distinct – that was Lawrence Tanter.
As someone who was both a fan and a friend of Lawrence when he was disc jockey on multiple jazz radio stations in Los Angeles, long before he stepped behind the Lakers microphone, I could not have been happier. For more than 40 years, his baritone voice was the sound of the Lakers franchise and he was an integral part of many Laker Championships, right alongside us players.
He will be missed by more than just Lakers fans, Lawerence will be missed by the entire jazz community who loved his music and velvet voice. Rest in peace my friend!
On top of being a great person, LT took his job very seriously, truly understanding his critical role for fans.
He’d come up to me before every game and inquire - with that glorious baritone - about the starting lineup and any changes for either team.
True legend. 💛💜
When I was in high school, I approached the girls basketball team about doing PA announcing. Growing up, Eric Smith & Lawrence Tanter were my local PA guys that I got the privilege of hearing at games.
While some fans from other teams criticized LT for being “boring & not hype enough”, in LA, he was a LEGEND. For those that don’t know, LT took over the Laker PA job during the showtime days & was the voice at Laker games till late this past season. So many Laker fans & people like myself don’t know Laker games without this guy. Hearing a different voice in the playoffs this past season felt FAKE. And honestly, I can’t imagine the lakers having some crazy hype man as their PA announcer. LT set the standard and style for what became how Laker games were as an experience. I haven’t been to many Laker games as a Clipper fan, but when I did go, there was a palpable feeling of importance when you heard LT on that mic. He had seen so much 🏀 & frankly so much GREAT 🏀.
You can’t fully copy someone, but I’d be lying if I didn’t try to say some things like LT when i did my job & even carried on doing it for Pepperdine past HS. He was an inspiration & icon to me. This is some nerdy PA shit but I admired the little details like ALWAYS saying the players college/country, height, & how long they’d been in the league in addition to numbers & name for intros. And he did it that way till 2026!
The way he said “Kobeeee Bryant” & “Laker Girlsss” in his deep baritone pitch was ICONIC. His sound just became a Laker game sound. The fist bump he gave Bean before every game that became part of their routines almost makes me tear up watching it now. The guy saw his entire career from day 1 till that 60 piece from the first row. I think the most iconic LT memory is hearing him call Kobe’s name over & over in that game against the Blazers in 2020 & hearing him choking up on the mic as he was talking. I was so hurt for him.
I always wanted to meet LT. And finally one day, I did. The last Laker home game I went to was in 2024 & I was given a ticket by a friend in really good seats. As I’m walking to my seats during shootaround, I pass right by LT. And I just said “Lawrence Tanter the legend!” And he said something along the lines of “hardly” or “I don’t know about that”. The funniest part was hearing him speak to me in a conversation. He doesn’t change his voice at all like a lot of PA guys, that’s literally just how he sounded & it was hilarious. I told him that I did PA ANNOUNCING, and that he was someone I looked up to as a kid. He seemed very flattered & said thank you in the classic LT voice. Dream come true.
PA announcers don’t get their credit & shine for how important they become to the game experience of a sports team. They’re always just a voice but we rarely see their faces unlike guys on TV. And I’d like to point out, this guy was so dedicated to his craft that he literally only stopped when he was dying. He went till the very end. Is he the longest tenured Laker employee ever? I’d love to know. But you can’t tell their history without him.
Thank you LT. For how you inspired me & what you gave to the game. Not just a Laker legend, but an LA legend & NBA legend.
Rest easy man 💔
Max Muncy continues to rake year after year after year after year. . z
Not only does he have 29 home runs this season, but he has the HIGHEST Slugging % in the National League versus high velocity pitches.

this is one of the greatest, most profound monolgues ive ever witnessed in the middle of a casual conversation about psychedelics and hippies.
its so unbelievably good. I love Jesse so much, man.
My parents raised me on soy milk in the 70s. They thought it was super healthy. I think that’s why I look like a Mexican woman. Not that there’s anything wrong with that. I make it work.
BOLD take from someone who didn’t grow up in LA. Living in LA isn’t the same as being raised in LA. Homegrown fans in Los Angeles BLEED purple and gold and Dodger blue, and that fandom is woven into families and passed down for generations. You’re mistaking transplant LA for all of LA. Might want to walk this one back, Seth
Conan sold the “we accidentally double-booked them” apology just long enough for people to almost believe it.
Then Jon Dore and Rory Scovel started performing their entire sets at the exact same time.
The timing is insane. One goes loud while the other drops volume. Random punchlines keep cutting clean through the chaos. Halfway through they escalate with a guitar and an audience member at the perfect moment.
Four minutes of pure controlled madness that still feels fresh over a decade later.
This is still one of the smartest late night bits ever done.
Never seen chaos this fun
