Matt Walsh calls this the most honest assessment he has read. You should all read it. And then maybe you will see what honesty requires and that both of these men refuse to do it.
Start with Vance's method. A team of data analysts obsessing over electorate composition, pollsters asked to explain the loss after it happens, a survey handed to defecting voters asking what would bring them back. This is the technique of a pragmatist. A man of principle could not care less about polls. He cares about ideas and whether they are right or wrong, and he would rather lose every election in his lifetime doing the right thing than win a single one doing the wrong thing. He holds a standard, measures his actions against it, and knows before the returns come in whether he governed by it. Victory means nothing to him if the price is his principles, because a victory won by abandoning what is right is a defeat in everything that matters. That is not what is happening here. These men are asking the crowd what it feels because they have no idea what is true, then adjusting their convictions to match the answer. Ayn Rand named this method decades ago. When men abandon reason as their guide, the opinion survey becomes their substitute for thought.
Observe what the assessment leaves out entirely. Not one word about tariffs, a tax on Americans that the Supreme Court struck down as unconstitutional and the administration reimposed under a different statute, running through two years of roughly 6% cumulative inflation. Not one word about roughly 30 government equity stakes in private companies, which is socialism practiced by the party that claims to oppose it. Not one word about a brand new universal entitlement, two trillion dollar deficits, or a 40 trillion dollar debt. "Focus on cost of living" appears as a polling answer with no causal analysis attached, because the causal analysis indicts their own record. The most honest assessment somehow misses every policy the voters threw them out over.
Then Vance's 4 conclusions which are out of context slogans which are meaningless as such. The reason we lost is the war. Half true and twisted. Hitting the regime that has waged war on us for 47 years was right and four decades overdue. What voters watched afterward was the goal line surrender, a so called deal championed by the appeaser Vance, who stood at Lake Lucerne praising the framework as the foundation for a final agreement while it waived Iran's oil sanctions and released $12 billion in frozen assets to a regime left standing, with our forces still taking fire in the strait. The failure is not that we fought. The failure is that we paid the enemy and called it peace while they still shoot at us to this day. And buried at answer four is the actual agenda, change our relationship to Israel. This disgusting faction of the Republican party that cannot define socialism while its administration practices it has one firm conviction, pushing away the only free nation in the region, our one reliable ally against the theocracy we are trying to buy off, just as Obama did. At least Obama dropped the pallets of cash for all to see.
This is why Republicans and Democrats keep winning in alternating cycles while freedom loving Americans lose a little more freedom each time. Both parties govern by the same premises, spending, controls, entitlements, state stakes in industry. Neither offers an alternative, so voters punish whoever stands closest to the wreckage while the wreckage keeps growing.
The pollsters then measure the anger and recommend sharper messaging, and Walsh pronounces the measurement honest.
Honesty is the refusal to fake reality. An assessment that evades tariffs, socialism, and a bought off theocracy while blaming the one thing done partly right is not honest. It is a crowd reading performed by men who long ago stopped checking their premises against anything but each other.
You missed sweeping Covid under the rug, no investigation, no accountability, no justice, just willful blindness to the most destructive era in US history. You missed no courage to address the perverse healthcare system replete with regulatory capture and money power goals antithetical to human life. Just lift rug, sweep, repeat.
AND Get rid of the never-ending “emergency powers” that allow tyrants to usurp the US Constitution.
this is my favorite collectivist conciet:
"imagine if this <insert rich person> had used their <amount of money> on this issue we have spent billions and trillions on for decades with zero positive effect. they could have solved the whole thing!"
it's such a fetching confluence of delusion and a weird faith that if you take the money of effective people and give it to the same people who have squandered every cent they have seen for decades, the money itself will somehow remain impactful as though tripling public school spending has worked to improve education.
it seems to underpin a profound misunderstanding of how to usefully allocate capital combined with an essentially animistic belief that outcome is somehow a property of the money itself and not of the allocator, like somehow musk has some sort of magically effective cash to which NGO's and government agencies are not generally privy.
@anneapplebaum You missed the part where they opened the books on USAID spending and it was a horror show of waste and NGO fraud that nobody can defend when you look at how taxpayer dollars were actually being spent. But it’s NEVER about how they spend it.. you only care that they TAKE IT
Now I understand why they were attacking @datareoublican so hard a few weeks ago. They knew this was coming. It is devastating to these traitors. Their subversive network mapped out. Well done Jennica. So important. Historic actually.
no ambre, leftists do not care about others. if that were true, the left would not always be seeking dictatorial control.
what being a leftist really means is pretending to care about the world as a pretext to seize and wield power and get free stuff. it's not care, it's conquest.
this has always been what leftism is about and why it's an inherently destructive, intolerant ethos.
the fact of it is obvious: you never build the means of production, you seize it.
it's not charity, it's legal plunder taken at gunpoint.
every time you guys say "justice" the real meaning is "force."
it's your fundamental fraud and why you are anti-human and anti-progress.
consider:
nothing stops the left from engaging in voluntary collectivism. you could all get together and pool resources and labor, build enterprises, and care for the needy in your communities through your own choices and actions, but you don't because deep down, you know it's a lie and it would cost you instead of those you seek to plunder and coerce.
this is why you steal rather than create.
it's an army of takers masquerading as civilizers.
so give it a rest. there are only two types of leftists:
1. cynical, power-hungry wreckers who will burn the world and murder millions so long as they get to wear a spiffy uniform and live in a big house and boss people around
2. those too foolish and ignorant of history to know that they have been taken in by group 1
the first is a monster, the second a dupe drunk on the lie that submission to monsters is empathy.
and neither one makes the world better.
there is no ethos in the history of humanity that has done more harm and anyone who mistakes that for virtue is desperately unserious.
@Ambre_emeraude Being left-wing means first thinking about The Party, then The Party, then The Party, then The Party. (And to survive, you join The Party, or become The Party adjacent.)
And if you’re right-wing and think The Party comes first, it’s just the same.
Only Individual Rights matter
"see, this is just the sort of gobbledygook that a bunch of low T clowns and the women who have mistaken that for maledom would push once they start losing social control."
this is the classic psychological retreat of the narcissist and the abuser. it's literally DARVO.
rather than accept healthy differences between men and women and acknowlding that these differences are both good and useful and that we can live happily and productively together, not in spite but because of them, they seek to pathologize anything not like themselves and cast men as "broken forms of women" who just need more therapy and struggle sessions.
and they want it to be a "public health crisis" so they can impose the rules that let them abuse you and call it "medicine."
the deep irony is that these people are the exact thing they claim to hate: dogmatically anti-science, bigoted, insular, narrow minded, and oppressive.
they demand that the world alter itself to their image of what it should be and seek to force biology into hallucinatory shapes they imagine would make it better.
it's lysenko level lunacy dancing around in the skinsuits of one respected publications burning the final shreds of institutional credibility to try to pass off expired credentials for authority.
at this point, they are so dogmatically pot commmitted that i dowubt there is any meaningful way to enage with such people on the merits of the debate.
the good news is we basically do not have to. this is a fading fringe shrieking to itself in the gathering darkness.
they are about as relevant (and as necessary) as helmets for migrating salmon.
so the response becomes simple:
This is why these stupid former CIA & state dept officials & others are desperately trying to push this false narrative that Pres Trump is autocratic - they are exposed. And afraid.
January 8th, 2017. After receiving the fake intelligence assessment that he requested be made, Obama does an interview with Democrat operative George Stephanopoulos to get the Russia hoax going.
The purpose of this interview was to sabotage the presidency of the incoming President and of course Obama did it while issuing fake calls for unity.
"We are all on the same team" Obama said while setting up the next President.
@micsolana Huh. I guess calling everyone who disagrees with your politics a racist Nazi fascist homophobe for political expediency to win elections has consequences. Unironically, she gloats like she’s 💯 convinced she’s the morally righteous good one
@CorinneInTX@ianmSC Great description of the indoctrinated, braindead left. Logic, reason, facts and evidence will never shake their faith in their Lord Almighty: The State
@ChuckieFFS@zenjakobsen Touting “the difference between authoritarianism and socialism” says all we need to know about your intellectual limitations. Maybe you missed the part where socialist regimes murder and starve their people? Socialism is authoritarian by design. It requires force.
Did you know the news used to regularly air stories about people's lives being ruined by vaccines?
That all changed after Clinton let Pharma buy out the media.
Here I compiled 75 mind-blowing news segments they'd never air today.

i call you a utopian rube who understands neither power nor governance nor liberty.
you think you can just make rules and everyone will play along and that all people are the same and want the kind of things you want and will not just take advantage of your systems to prey upon your empathy and lack of discernment.
there is no international rules based order. who will enforce it? countries. with armies.
see the problem?
the international orgs like the EU and UN are clownshow parodies of rule of law and free trade and free markets.
they are the antithesis of what you claim to want.
democracy is a desperately stupid form of government. even mentioning it as a value is self-indictment as being unserious. it's just tyranny of the majority. you've mistaken where liberty comes from.
you seem like a devotee of "montesori playgroup with a wise teacher looking on" view of international order.
that's just suicidal empathy with a side order of delusion.
high trust systems are made and preserved by people, not rulesets and schoolmarm scolding.
The welfare cliff does not trap poor families by accident.
Congress engineered a benefits system where earning one additional dollar can trigger simultaneous cuts to Medicaid, SNAP, housing vouchers, and childcare subsidies, collapsing your effective income by $5 or more. The government built a cage, and somehow we call it a safety net.
Take a single mother in Houston. She earns $22,000 annually and qualifies for $35,000 in combined federal and state benefits. She gets a raise to $25,000. That $3,000 in new wages costs her $18,000 in benefits. Her employer rewarded her productivity; the state punished her for it. No rational actor climbs that wall.
This is price control, but applied to human ambition. Every welfare threshold functions as a marginal tax rate that would make a Scandinavian bureaucrat jealous, often exceeding 80 or even 100 percent on the next dollar earned. This disincentive is the system's core mechanism.
Dependency concentrates political power. Families tethered to benefit rolls vote to protect those rolls, and the politicians who administer the programs vote to expand them. The cliff self-perpetuates. Free market economists have traced this perverse incentive structure for decades, but the administrative state expands regardless, because a bureaucracy that manages poverty also survives by it.
Genuine exit from poverty requires accumulating capital, building skills, and taking calculated risks. The welfare cliff taxes all three.
