@PHLEaglesNation Unfortunately, sports commentators are taking a page from cable news and saying things for the sole reason of being controversial. They say things they don't really mean
@bobfunk@jamieson I think many of them don't, not because they feel like they have anything to hide, but because it is such a partisan field, and they don't care for the hate from those that disagree. The comments to me made me chuckle, but many wouldn't have the stomach for it.
@melememe@keepingitight@jamieson@HuffPost This is nothing new. The gov't always played some role in high-profile strikes. Strikes are rare because they don't scare employers anymore, but you know who they scare? They scare members, so unions threaten them with a strike if they don't accept the shitty contract offer.
@melememe@keepingitight@jamieson@HuffPost Which laws are doing that? The reason strikes are no longer as effective is that people cross picket lines today whereas they wouldn't pre 80's.
@melememe@keepingitight@jamieson@HuffPost Employees can utilize their one weapon and strike, but strikes do not work like they used to. Today, people are jaded to picket lines and they cross them. Customers do, and so do workers. Employers today do not fear strikes like they used to. That has weakened unions
@melememe@keepingitight@jamieson@HuffPost There's a reason the public sector and private sector union membership is so different. Collective bargaining in the private sector depends on the capitulation of the employer, who has no reason to give in to a unions demands.
@melememe@keepingitight@jamieson@HuffPost Yes! Unions work well in the public sector. I also recommend workers who want good union jobs go to places that have been unionized for decades. Those are good union jobs. Bringing the union to you doesn't work
The next piece in our series THE PERSUADERS is about union officials and organizers who turn into anti-union consultants.
'If itβs not an issue of principle for you, and this is your only area of expertise, you can make a good living on the other side.'

@momslaborunion@jamieson@HuffPost No. I think that the threat of a union is a valid one. Employers who don't want unions would do well to make sure that they treat/pay their employees fairly and with respect. That's how you keep your workplace union free. A good union organizing drive is a great reminder of that.
@copiedcopies@jamieson@HuffPost Because they deserve to hear that truth from people who know it. Imagine if we voted for the President of the US relying solely on information from Trump. Employers have a right to educate their workers
@griffonatrix@jamieson@HuffPost Unions are nearly always bad for employers and can be good or bad for employees. When unions are bad for their employees, that doesn't make it good for the employer.
@Hanoumatoi@jamieson@HuffPost If a union gets workers nothing, it's still bad for the company for many reasons. Company stock prices drop and shareholders freak. Customers might move to your non-union competitor lest you go on strike. The value of your business drops. There's nothing good for the company.
@hamiltonnolan@jamieson@HuffPost With all respect, you must not be very good at your job. I can name you dozens and dozens of credible consultants who go in and provide truthful education. There are also dozens of pieces of shit.
