BREAKING: Supreme Court dismisses petitions on the voting threshold of the Senate Impeachment Court on “procedural grounds including lack of standing and prematurity.” | via @adrianayalin
✅ Noynoy Aquino pardoned (1) one terminally ill patient and eight (8) super senior citizens.
✅ PBBM pardoned trafficking victim OFW Mary Jane Veloso.
❌ Duterte pardoned Robinhood Padilla just so he can run for Senator kaya kahit sunugin mo siya eh amoy Duterte daw siya. 😂😭
Hindi lang siya off putting tignan, it also raises questions of impartiality and ethical behavior: kung may kaso siya sa DOJ, anong assurance that it will be treated fairly, if this is how they act at the mere notice na paparating siya?
🚨 Atty. Christian Monsod said that at least 6 out of 11 surviving members of the Framers of the 1987 Constitution agreed na TAMA ang ruling ng Senate.
2/3 cannot be changed but the denominator can be changed.
3 Chief Justices + 6 Framers na yan!!
Iyak DDS!
😂
14 VOTES TO CONVICT VP SARA DUTERTE
The number to convict Vice President Sara Duterte is no longer two-thirds of 24, it is now at two-thirds of 20. This equals 13.333.
Presiding Officer Chiz Escudero in his ruling, said that because there is "no fraction of a senator," the court ruled to round up to the next higher number.
This means the number to convict, if the denominator is the 20 active roster of senator judges, is at 14 senator-judges, to convict; and at seven senator-judges, to acquit. | via @mjaysoncayabyab

JAPAN BACKS ICC AMID U.S. SANCTIONS
UPDATE: Japan maintains its support for the International Criminal Court after the United States imposed sanctions on ICC President Tomoko Akane, a Japanese judge, and senior trial lawyer Abdoulaye Seye.
Tokyo calls the U.S. sanctions “very unfortunate,” saying it has consistently supported the ICC’s efforts to prosecute serious international crimes and uphold the rule of law.

UPDATE: DILG Sec. Jonvic Remulla urged to amend the law to make loose firearms a non-bailable offense again after the latest shooting incident at a school in Zamboanga City.
He said Republic Act 8294 or the “Robin Padilla” law—which revised penalties for illegal possession of firearms—led to a "surge in crimes” related to the use of firearms.
a tale of two mayors:
one willing to admit fault, swear to make necessary changes, and most importantly—do better.
vs.
one who refuses to acknowledge his lapses that led to at least 5k students (in UST alone) stranded. all while making light of the situation farming clicks.
One disturbing similarity between the Tacloban and Ateneo de Zamboanga school shootings: minors gained access to government-issued firearms entrusted to adult relatives.
Before blaming games or social media, authorities should examine how service firearms were stored and secured
'NEVER PO AKO NAG-DRAMA DITO'
Senators Raffy Tulfo and Pia Cayetano exchanged sharp words during Tuesday’s plenary session after Tulfo accused Senator Alan Peter Cayetano of preventing minority members from joining his committees.
The clash erupted when Tulfo said Senate Minority Leader Alan had allegedly continued to refuse to give his go-signal on the minority bloc’s election to the committees under his chairmanship, as if the members were being held hostage.
"Senator Tulfo, madali n'yo naman akong tanungin, alam n'yo namang kapatid ko si Alan kung may gusto kayong iparating. Huwag na ho kayo mag-drama ng pa-hostage hostage, hindi ho tayo ganito rito," Pia said in defense of her brother.
"Never po ako nag-drama dito [...] Sino ang nagda-drama? Tumingin muna kayo sa salamin bago kayo magsalita," Tulfo rebutted.
