Carla's story is heartbreaking and it's sadly one that's being repeated for many families as energy prices soar. It's great that Dispatches is exploring how we got here, and it was a privilege to be able to contribute insight from @CitizensAdvice - watch in full at 8pm tonight
After nearly 2 years working in energy policy, I'm moving to a new internal user research role @CitizensAdvice. Thanks to everyone @CAenergypolicy who have been amazing to work with, and I look forward to seeing what great work you do next
A worrying new report from @CitizensAdvice showing the decreasing number of full-time post offices across the UK. The government and @PostOffice need to take urgent action to reverse this trend so that the post office network is convenient and easily accessible to everyone.
Post offices in rural communities give people access to important services and are part of the local fabric.
But 1 in 3 branches in rural Britain are now part-time outreaches - providing services for an average of only 5 and a half hours a week.

Imagine if the number of energy efficiency improvements had continued at around 2 million a year from 2013 onwards. The current crisis would be so much smaller, so many homes would be warmer and with lower running costs.
The energy market is in turmoil - 26 suppliers have gone bust, affecting 4m people. New @citizensadvice research shows this will add £2.6bn to bills next year - £94 per household - and @ofgem was slow to address problems and enforce rules. We need to see 3 things 👇
The government needs to do more.
🚩1.4 million people can't access vital benefits such as Universal Credit because of a visa condition called 'No Recourse to Public Funds'
We're asking to remove #NRPF for people building a life in the UK.
Here's why ⤵️ https://t.co/q8iR1qgvBc
@CMAgovUK has made a final decision on the appeal brought by energy networks ⚡ 🔥 against the amount of money networks can charge consumers via their energy bills. 1/6
That's why we want the government to establish a single accreditation and protection scheme with the power to:
- audit providers and prevent a company that falls below standards from operating
- set clear, enforceable consequences if companies break the rules
New @CitizensAdvice research reveals the missing piece of the government’s Heat and Buildings Strategy - consumer protections. This is essential to give people the confidence to make major changes to their homes for #netzero

You have better consumer protections when taking out a phone contract than when installing green tech. We know that people often face problems when trying to install green tech at home - such as shoddy installations and tech not performing well enough

A worst-case scenario in new @CAenergypolicy research shows a combination of the #UniversalCredit cut, loss of the Warm Home Discount, being on a higher tariff from supplier failure and rising inflation could leave people with a hit of *£37.40 a week* - https://t.co/HEX77FcYFc
Looking forward to speaking at this next week, where I'll be talking about Citizens Advice's latest data report which shows worrying signs of financial problems ahead of these changes taking place

If your energy supplier has gone bust - don't worry, you'll still have an energy supply and any credit you have will be protected. Sit tight and take a meter reading, and your new supplier will be in touch when they're appointed. https://t.co/GvMMlLK5pf
Insight into UK's #energycrisis in real time - we @CitizensAdvice saw a *huge* increase in people coming to us for online energy advice.
