Good news:
The latest ONS crime stats show that theft from the person (e.g. phone theft) was driven down by 24% over the last year..
Robbery of personal property was driven down 12%.
Our hard work and record funding from City Hall is paying off.
60 years on from the Aberfan tragedy, we remember the 144 lives lost, and the dangers of of what can happen when warnings are ignored, and when those in positions of power fail to act.
Remembering those who died must go hand in hand with ensuring that such failures are never allowed to happen again.
The Tories have chased Reform so far to the right on Europe that we will likely see more people like Andrew leaving the party.
I know many residents in Kensington & Bayswater are deeply concerned about this reckless position on the ECHR.
We should be building a closer partnership with Europe, not burning the bridges we have.
This Labour government’s transformative Renters’ Rights Act empowers private renters to challenge unreasonable rent increases.
If a tenant believes a proposed rent increase is above the open-market rent, they can refer the matter to the First-tier Tribunal.
In a recent case in Manchester where the Landlord proposed an increase in rent from £1,650 per calendar month to £1,700, the Tribunal determined the open market rent was actually £1,450 per calendar month.
We’re standing up for renters and our reforms are working.

I recently attended a local screening of the People’s Emergency Briefing Film at Thomas’s School in Kensington.
The film explores the risks and impacts of the climate crisis, and the importance of building greater public awareness and preparedness.
I know how strongly many local residents feel about climate and environmental issues, and I’m grateful to everyone who has taken the time to write to me and share their views.
Thank you to everyone involved in organising the screening and those who took the time to attend and contribute.
@Innocent was founded in our community, and their HQ is still in North Kensington.
Their drinks are famous around the world, but they also work hard to maintain a local connection to our schools.
I met the team recently and tasted some of the latest creations.
Today the Tories pushed a vote to leave the ECHR. A vote to destabilise our relations with the EU and undermine the Good Friday Agreement. A vote to join Russia and Belarus as the only European countries outside. A vote to turn their backs on a charter championed by Churchill.
At Prime Minister's Questions today, @andyburnham gave his support to a National Oversight Mechanism to ensure that the state is accountable for change after tragedies like Grenfell.
This campaign has been led by @GrenfellUnited and @Inquest_org, and I'll keep working hard to make sure this is up and running as soon as possible.
I love meeting young people who are enthusiastic about getting involved in politics, and supporting their ideas and drive to change our community for the better.
In Liverpool at Labour Party Conference, I chatted with @ayahmamode about national and local politics, and whether young people should be optimistic about the future.
If you’re a young person in Kensington & Bayswater and have an idea you want to share, or if you want to get involved in any of our campaigns, then get in touch!
I'm determined to build a safer London for everyone.
In Westminster, overall crime has fallen by 17% over the last year, including major reductions in theft and robbery after we provided record funding for the police from City Hall.
But we won’t let up. We'll keep working with the Met and local partners to drive crime down.
The Grenfell Tower Inquiry was clear about the failings of the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea and senior individuals involved in the management of their housing, including the Tower.
It’s totally inappropriate for any individual criticised by the Inquiry to continue to work in housing, particularly while criminal investigations are ongoing. It’s right that Laura Johnson is no longer in such a position.

Paternity leave in the UK needs bringing into the 21st century.
The UK’s offer is among the worst in Europe - currently just two weeks paid at less than half the minimum wage - often forcing new fathers back to work within days of their child’s birth. Those who are self-employed get nothing.
That’s why I’m proud to support the @DadShiftUK campaign for a better paternity leave system.
Thanks to the Employment Rights Act, new dads are entitled to paternity leave from day one of their job - and I know the Government will do all it can to try and extend this further.
Brexit has caused far more harm than good to our country.
That's why the Prime Minister is completely right to use next month’s EU-UK summit to drive closer integration and to keep all options open for the closest possible partnership in the future.
Great to meet the team at the brand new @puregym on Kensington High Street and to see the gym in action.
I popped in to meet the team and have a look around the new gym, which will give local residents 24/7 access to affordable fitness facilities.
Great to speak to residents at @josephpowell’s coffee morning with @BayswaterLabour 🌹
We provided local updates on Queensway public realm, Hallfield Major Works and more!
A really exciting day for Golborne as the Canalside Medical Centre opens its doors! 🎉
I’ve been following the refurbishment of this site for some time, so it was great to see the finished centre and to see the team at the grand opening.
There’s a huge range of services here, from therapy and massage to specialist clinical care, giving local people more access to healthcare right on their doorstep.
That matters in North Kensington, where health inequalities are some of the starkest in the country.
This project has also been co-designed with the community, so look out for the brilliant art depicting some local characters.
A brilliant addition to our community. Congratulations to everyone who made it happen!
Great energy here in Holborn and St Pancras - speaking to local residents with @Sagal_AW - who would be a terrific advocate in Parliament.
Polls are open until 10pm - and every vote matters. #VoteLabour
