@TorontoPolice Auxiliar police were in the area of Duplex and Eglinton searching. Please check oriole park and the belt line trail into the mount pleasant cemetery. It would have put her in that area around 6:00-7:00 pm and it can get dark quickly with the trees.
@Diana_C_McNally I wonder if it may also be generational? I have found in some of my experiences, older generations have been less willing to be “vocal” or seeming to be publicly criticize government and/or their policy, vs a millennial like myself.
@Diana_C_McNally I think it may be a couple of things:
- NFP’s that are also charities are worried about seeming to be partisan and potentially being offside with the CRA
- charities have donors with different policial affiliation
- NFP boards can be risk adverse
@RE_MarketWatch I actually went up to them and told them people are getting scared, and asked them to try and de escalate. The 4 of them said they needed back up and waiting for the next station. TTC & City need to have police paired with mental health professionals trained in de escalation
@RE_MarketWatch I was on a train a month ago between Eglinton and st Clair and a man with mental health issues was have a full psychotic episode, punching the windows and seats on the train. It was mid day during the week. There was FOUR TTC constables at the end of the train. They did nothing.
@RE_MarketWatch Its also crazy the the police were unable to locate the other individual involved in the fight. There is a police station (53 division) 100 feet from this station.
@RE_MarketWatch When will the city, ttc and police actually take the necessary short and long term steps to address this. When i was in high school there was a police officer stationed in our school for a year when there was reoccurring security incidents.
@anabailaoTO Make them both toll road, but unlike the mistake of the province with 407, don’t sell it to Ferrovial S. A. Hey, you could even provide rebates to lower income Toronto residents.
@Diana_C_McNally “system/policies that refuse to enact a war effort on housing” well said! There is the equivalent of a forest fire raging and meanwhile we only have squirt guns and water balloons Where are the affordable housing water bombers? Sadly, it will get worse before we see any change.
@SteveClarkPC & @lornecoe thanks for coming by today to visit. We believe this project is a great example of 2 housing nonprofit’s coming together to build a community that will provide families with both affordable ownership and affordable rental housing options.
Our More Homes Built Faster plan is getting shovels in the ground all across Ontario!
Today, @lornecoe and I had the chance to tour a 50-unit affordable housing community by @HabitatGTA & @DRNPHC that is receiving major fee discounts thanks to our housing plan.
@MisterSafetytoe@alexbozikovic@MikeColleTo My Dad probably felt the same way as you so he sold and moved to Etobicoke where he now has a larger lot & no new developments in the next ~15 years. As a father in my mid 30’s, I couldn’t disagree more with your comment. This is a major transit hub & needs a lot more density
@alexbozikovic@MikeColleTo If residents of Toronto or for that matter any large urban centres don’t want growth, or development or construction or change, then they should probably rethink there living situation. There are plenty of very nice communities that will never see a building over 3 stories.
@alexbozikovic@MikeColleTo I live at Yonge and Eglinton in a single family home and we are flanked by future condo developments (East, North East and North). I consider our young family luck and I am becoming increasingly tired and disappointed that a segment of our community thinks that growth is bad.
Thrilled to take a look at one of @HabitatGTA’s builds in Oshawa. Can’t wait for Habitat families to move in! Proud of all the work our volunteers and development team are doing to bring this project to life!
The mailperson just dropped off my two copies of 305 Lost Buildings of Canada by @alexbozikovic and Raymond Biesinger. One for my collection and an extra copy will be an Xmas gift for an real estate enthusiast!
