If Tesla spent $25m a year in advertising with ABC, this headline would read:
"Drunk 27-year-old arrested after fleeing the scene of a car crash that resulted in a woman dying."
Have you ever read a news story about a DWI that started with:
'A Toyota crashed..."
or
'A Hyundai crashed.. "
Nope.
My feedback after 30+ Cybercab rides
I just want to say first off I was blown away with the cybercab and the Robotaxi app in general - amazing how mature this vehicle and service feel already.
Just wanted to put all thoughts in one place - some of these will seem small and nitpicking, but I just truthfully want to give my feedback in the hope to make this amazing service and vehicle even better. ❤️
Cybercab
- Ability to see the map, similar to what’s in customer cars today. As someone who is unfamiliar with Austin there was several times when I was being dropped off at my destination and I wanted to see what was nearby and instinctively I tried to swipe the screen open the maps.
- Ability to edit drop off locations and change drop off entirely from the map on the screen. I also would LOVE to have the option to switch to satellite mode while doing this.
- YouTube: you can’t change the resolution if you’re full screen
- Option to turn on side and rear cameras; sometimes you want to see what’s happening behind or beside you.
- The windows only open 2” (but can open fully if held down for 10 seconds) is this intentional?
- Doors are too quick to close when I am still getting stuff out of the car. It doesn’t close hard enough to hurt anyone - but it would be nice if it waited until you walked away
- Car is sometimes slow to leave after dropping someone off, which causes frustration if it’s blocking someone from leaving or impeding traffic
- Multiple drop offs per ride. If I am with a friend and want to drop them off along the way that’s currently not possible
- preferred seat position and option to easily return to that… similar to customer cars today.
If I happen to choose to recline for a bit but then want to get back to my “normal” seating it’s a nuisance
- Change the color of the cybercab light bar before it arrives. Not sure how this is currently implemented - sometimes my car had a color and it was easy to identify, but other times it was just normal and it was hard to know which cybercab was mine without seeing the plate
Robotaxi app
- scheduling a pickup time would be lovely
- when I search “target” I just get a list of target locations with addresses, but as someone unfamiliar with the area that’s basically useless to me. I’d love the search to populate pins on a map and I could choose from there.
- satellite view option for the map please 🙏
- the “stop now” button doesn’t seem to work? When I tried it each time it didn’t really do anything as far as I could tell
Misc
- please bring the video full screen interface from cybercab/model y to customer cars. Being able to adjust heat, volume, etc while remaining full screened is so so nice.
Do legacy media outlets typically use headlines involving the make of a car in a crash or is that only for Tesla?
It would be one thing if the self-driving malfunctioned but the crash was purely human-induced.
Seems like these outlets want to associate Tesla with crashes as part of a narrative and overall political agenda.
Here's the clip that apparently terminated my YouTube channel.
While livestreaming about the SpaceX IPO, I tried to share what I believed was the official livestream of the SpaceX IPO ceremony. I clicked on a video on YouTube that appeared to be legitimate live coverage. Afterall, it was apparently on the offical Nasdaq YT channel. After playing it for about 20 seconds, I realized it was an AI deepfake, so I immediately stopped it and told my viewers it was fake.
My only intention was to show the real ceremony to my audience. As soon as I noticed the issue, I clicked off.
I’ve learned from this experience and will be much more careful when selecting and verifying content before going live. That said, I believe terminating the entire channel for an unintentional mistake was quite severe. I would appreciate it if you could review and reconsider this decision.
