Referrals are the best clients you’ll ever get.
But you can’t build a business on waiting on new intros.
When a founder who’s grown entirely through referrals asks for help with landing new clients, most people would pick a channel.
Ads, outbound, LinkedIn, SEO, cold calling, etc.
That’s not where I like to start.
For me, everything starts with the offer.
Before you look for new clients, you need to be abundantly clear on:
- Who your ICP is
- What their pains and desires are
Once the offer is nailed, picking a channel is 100x easier…
Where are these people?
How do we contact them?
How do we resonate with them?
Then you can go after them in two ways:
1/ Inbound… content that draws them to you
2/ Outbound… going after them directly
In my experience, it’s not about the channel you choose, but how much you’re willing to invest and how fast you need it to work.
If speed matters most:
- Paid ads
- Cold calling
- High volume email
If you can take it slower:
- Content
- Lifecycle marketing
- SEO and GEO
You have to remember that both of these take a lot of reps.
It’s the same monotonous work, every day, over a longer period of time than you might think.
